It's good to see the schedule didn't change much. The only things different on the schedule I had was the addition of a Thunder Car race on May 30th. The only other change I see is the Limited Late Model 50 lapper also on the 30th of May . Originally it was supposed to be a 100 lap Crown Late Model Tour race (same thing ?) Now we just have to wait for the naming of the rest of the Nascar drivers for the Aug. 23rd race. Good mix of racing.

OK Kevin.  Where are my printed schedules for the store???  This week??  Michigan Speedway gave me their printed schedules a couple of weeks ago. lol

Date of the Midget race has changed....from Wolverine Outlaw Midget Series post on TJSlideways.com:

May 30 Cayuga WOMS/NEMA with Wings

This works out much better for NEMA...They have a Tuesday, July 7 show at Stafford, CT and Wednesday, July 15 show at Seekonk, MA...The July 11 show at Cayuga would not have worked well for their teams at all...

If this is true it will be to bad that they donot race there this year. But will an early release of what they had planned then pulled back and taken off does not sound right then NCTS pulls out because of a so called date (Aug 30thSept 1st) in which NASCAR was racing in Montreal no big deal but to tell them if we can not get that date take your dates some where else (Delaware & Saskatoon) does not sound right. Then the tickets going on Sale first JAN 1st then Feb 9th and as of today have not gone on sale yet and no schelude release either. If true that their promotor has quit does not sound good for the track. Also if they have no signed contrats for any series does not look good for this track.Guess we will just have to wait and see what happens but it would sure be good if the track would give a press release to say that everything is a go or no go.

Forgot to mention Cayuga had scheluded a Race Of Champions with NASCAR stars which was schelued Aug 22 &23 with the NCTS Race but with no NCTS race does that mean there will be no stars race.Should be interesting to see if they will still run this race but with no NCTS race odds maybe against it hope not but it is possible

Here it is March 9th and still no schelude release(with exception of 1st release)
Sure makes a person think that maybe there will be no racing this year at Cayuga.Maybe rumour of promotor leving was true.

That schedule that is out is NOT the schedule, so don't count on any thing yet !!

Its to bad this Track has such a bad rap, and ever since the glory days of Bob Slack it has never been able to get its feet back on the ground.
Although almost every Nascar Track is having tough times filling the seats this year, Cayuga has had the problem for at least the past 20 years.
Poor promoting and advertising is one of the biggest factors, but there seems to be something more to the storey.

Is Cayuga to far of a drive for Racer's and Fan's ?
Is it the facility itself ?
Is it the layout of the Track ?

I for one think Cayuga Speedway is in the Top 5 for Ovals in Canada, and it's location, although a stretch for some, is pretty much central to London, Toronto, and Buffalo.

The facility itself does need improving, but that is an age old ordeal for any Canadian Track.... Nothing a fresh coat of paint wouldnt fix !!

The Track needs repaving and new banking...Bristol type banking would make this track a must see race track and would draw several series to request running there, instead of Cayuga having to chase series promoters for contracts.

With the Nascar CTS deal going away because neither party could agree on a date it leaves the door open for other series to fill the card, and I for one would love to see them use that saved money and invest it into shows like USAC Sprint Cars, Supermodifieds, The Sportsman Series, ACT, The Lancaster Modifieds, A bring what youve got Late Model Show and even take a look a running the Truck Series there.

If anyone out there has a suggestion on how to fix the one time ' Crown Jewel ',
you need to send your idea's to the Track before it shuts down yet one more time.
Who know's, Maybe someone on here has the solution to rebuilding the fan base and keeping this Track alive.
All in all, It is worth saving this Track and bringing it back to its one time gleaming image as I am sure everone will agree.

As one who has been going to Cayuga since the '70's, I think its biggest problem is its location. Except for Brantford & Hamilton Mountain, getting there from just about anywhere means a 60 minute plus drive on secondary roads or through urban areas. It is not convenient to get to from Toronto, London, KW or Buffalo/Niagara. It is not easily accessable from the 401, 403 or QEW.
What works best there are a few big well publicized events with names that the public recognize.

I for one think that the new highway 6 interchange that was built a few years ago off the 403 just west of the Linc makes it alot easier to get to Cayuga from major highways. Now you just hit 6, ride it out past the airport, then you'll bypass caledonia, and when you get to the lone traffic light in hagersville, you take a left, and ur home free to the track. Then it just becomes a matter of making sure everybody who comes from a distance knows thats the easiest way to get to the track...
