A race track with a heart, a dedicated group of drivers, beautiful weather and tremendous fan support came together to assist Varney Motor Speedway in raising over $8,000.00 for cancer research in a day of walks, haircuts, draws and donations. Tim Tolton, a Varney Late Model driver topped the individual donation list, raising over $1200.00 to have his head shaved. A total of 23 participants in the cancer walk and hair cutting segment, raised nearly $5,000. Donations from Women on Wheels, Varney Motor Speedway’s Ribfest and pace car rides as well as money raised on door prizes netted an additional $3,400 to aid in cancer research. Ribfest, Classic Cars, Hurricane Midgets and kid’s bike races rounded out the day’s events.
