Defending NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Sirius Satellite Radiochampion Andrew Ranger suffered three fractures of his left foot during aqualifying session for a ice motorcycle race at the Grand Prix Ski-Doo deValcourt in Quebec on February 17. A cast was placed on the foot, but surgery was not required. His doctorsestimate a four to six week recovery period and no future complications areanticipated according to a representative from his management company. The injury should not affect the defense of his Canadian Tire Series titlewhich will commence on May 24 at Cayuga International Speedway nearHamilton, Ontario. He will spend the next several weeks recuperating andrehabilitating the injury while watching tapes of last year¹s Canadian TireSeries events to continue his rapid acclimation to stock car racing aftermaking the switch from the open wheel world a year ago. Ranger, of Roxton Pond, Quebec, is a former Canadian motorcycle ice racingchampion. Competitors use spiked tires for traction on oval-type tracks andreach speeds of over 100 mph on the ice-covered surface.
