Barrie speedway llm championship is the worst thing you can win.

Barrie llm champion is the kiss of death.  They all cheared Don Hawn,till he won then he left.
Since yr 2000 season .WOW                 They all cheared Glen Watson,till he won then he left.
                                                      They all cheared Steve Quesnelle,till he won then he left
                                                      They all cheared John Gaunt,till he won then he left.
                                                      They all cheared Tom Walters,till he won then he left.
                                                      They are all chearing for Dwayne Baker if he wins ???????????????????????????.

Quesnelle returned after a season at Sunset but he was not the same the hidious curse of the Barrie speedway llm championship.

i heard Baker may be thinking of running super lates next year regardless of what happens. So if he wins the championship and he leaves then it is because he was already planning on leaving before the year ended anyways. I also heard that his son Kyle will be stepping up to LLM next year. WE'll see what happens but yeah it is kind of funny that all the champions end up leaving.

 Gee I really think your on to something . I should have seen the trend after Garf Peacock , Jim Victil , Don Wardle , Herb Erb and Mike Shaughnessy all left   ::)

Yes Piney your majesty  my a##, but your former greats did not bail within a year of winning they stuck around for a spell and faded away gracefully some like my Dad with multiple championships under their belts. Not 5 champions in 7 years that all got run out of town  if the truth be known.

 Once again you are misinformed my Duchess of the Dump. Wardle won the championship in 78 and left in 79 Herb Erb won the championship in 79 and did not return in 80 Shaughnessy won the championship in 80 and left a year later .

 The intire premise of your thread is incorrect if you think any of the drivers you listed "were run out of town" They all left on their on accord for multiple reasons.

  You best just play with the kids on here because I am way out of your league.

Brown noser, don't take everything that pine tree says as gospel,nobody is old enough to know any different in reality pinecrest is only 30 yrs old.Its the old B/S baffles brains or as is the case with his Majesty's (my a##) subjects,B/s does baffle their brains cause they don't have 2 many.

 Sue you said your dad was a racer so go ask him if I am right or not . I don't suppose you would like to tell us who your dad is or where he raced ? You said he won a championship was it in a LM ?

 Thanks for the compliment that I am only 30 but that birthday has come and gone many moons ago

 Well thank you barrie97  and yes Justme Wardle won 3 championships and then had some type of inner ear problem I believe that effected his balance and ended his driving career . Don was a class act and a very good driver.I think Don was driving for Eddie Regan then , some of you may know his son Junior Regan that was not to bad a driver but had sort of a short run .

I've been kicking around the track since 1969, back when my father was the track photographer for a few years, then he drove for a couple after that, I can remember a few names from back then, Like Terry Barr, Bev Bye, Ron carter, Peter Schotanus,The Stefnicks and so on,,, I don't always recall everyone's stats but there was definatly alot of good drivers back then...

 We have probally crossed paths over the years then Justme . I am not near as good at the stat  thing as guys like statman on here. I tend to remember the front runners and the unusual cars like the Triumph mini stock that Schotanus built and they banned or the Corvair bodied LM that Victil raced . Most all the top guys from Barrie and other tracks would come to Pinecrest to try their hand and maybe get  what was the big money at the time .Heck Pinecrest was paying more money to win 75 and 100 lappers then the NCTS pays now to win a 250 or 300 lappers.

I remember those names too from my dad and grandpa. jim Viktail, bev bye. but those names were before my times...lol...I remember watching guys like Trent and Simon Stoltz. Brian Malcolm, Garry Reynolds, and a whole pile more. I remember Street Stock drivers like Tim Cotter and Dave Sinclair and Eric and Whitey Whiteside. makes me feel young again as my brother and I were young we would pick a car and pretend we were driving that car as we sat in the grandstands. fun times.

 Speaking of the Triumph mini stock,It's a good thing Peter Schotanus has the tech guy at Barrie in his back pocket they are real close cause if you looked in the dictionary in the sixties under the word cheater you would see the dutch mans face. The only change is in the new updated  Oxford dictionary 2007 edition  if look look for the word cheater you will still see Schotanus's face but a little more wrinkled and a lot balder.
