Well changing rules mid season doesn't seem fair, but I guess the track feels they are caught between a rock and a hard place due to a low car count.  Last week it was said that there may be 6 or 7 cars that may have offset built into them.  But I believe after some measuring that number is more like 2 or 3 cars.  Of those 2 or 3 cars, one for sure has been fixed this week, hopefully all cars have been fixed.  Don't think this is just a Barrie Speedway problem word in last weeks drivers meeting was that most of the cars at Sunset, well at least the cars built in the last 3 or 4 years may have an issue with offset on the front or rear clips.

Yes, we hear it's a 50lb per inch (plus any fraction) of offset after the first inch. Brad came to our's and Peter's shop to measure cars this week. Our car has under an inch of offset using the same method of measurement as they did last saturday in tech for those cars. We could argue the toss about that but to be honest it's pointless as we fall into the 1st inch 'pass' category anyway.

All this is open and above board, we have no problem sharing this information. It'll be further discussed in the drivers meeting on Saturday I'm sure.

some justification by tech was the "Chassis builders don't build cars that fit our rules anymore"

take from that what you will.

Here is what is stated in the Barrie Speedway rule book.

Tube Clip Front Frame Section

(b) No offset chassis allowed.

My understanding Saturday night the officials decided to allow offset chassis with a weight penalty.

After the 2nd feature tech inspection I asked the tech officials to check my car.  The measurements on the RF and LF frame rails were the same, and the measurements on the RR and LR were the same, therefore no weight penalty for me.

Seems to me that if its a rule written in the books like you say Keith then any offset chassis should be outlawed. How can track officials change the rule book midstream, what does that say to all the other drivers that are playing by the written rules. How did they come up with the weight penalties, pull them out of a hat. I"ve always been a firm believer that a rule is a rule and they are meant to be followed good or bad.

Just spitballing here and looking from the outside. If only 1 or 2 teams were found to have offsets then I would assume dq's would be in order but what if the track found that a substantial number of teams have offsets? That would put the track in a pretty tight bind wouldn't it? Just askn'

Heard there was a closed door[tech shed] meeting with only the late model drivers allowed, sounded pretty important.Anybody know what was being discussed.

Offset chassis'
Are offset chassis in the limited late model division the norm for this class or is this type of chassis illegal.

Yea, there was a hoohaa about somebody's chassis so they have started measuring all the frames as they go through tech.
Our own car during tech the other week was originally thought to have a 1.25" offset, (which isn't really worth making a special jig for IMHO),  but then the methodology for establishing the true centreline of the frame was thrown into doubt after consultation with 'some' chassis manufacturers.
The subject is still bubbling along.
Offset clips are pretty easy to check for but the centre section not so, at least down at fractions of an inch.
A true offset perimeter frame is very easy to spot because the offset is a lot and I think that's where the beef is although I can't believe anyone would try that trick, it's not something you can back pedal out of so easy.
