Unforeseen Tire Shortage Forces OMRS to Amend Rules for the Spring Shakedown Invitational

It was already one of the most talked about events of the early 2014 and now, the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series Spring Shakedown Invitational - Saturday, May 10th at Flamboro Speedway - has taken a twist that could possibly make even more teams eligible to compete.
An unexpected shortage of the OMRS spec tire - the Towel City Recaps - has caused officials to amend the tire rule and teams will now be permitted to utilize used Hoosier 980 slicks, in addition to new or used Towel City Recaps. Tire durometer readings will be done during pre-race and post event technical inspection to ensure this revised policy is strictly adhered to. Series officials apologise for any inconvenience, but are doing everything possible to make the best of an unfortunate situation.
"We're hoping to get the word out to as many registered teams and drivers as possible," said Randy Hollingsworth, speaking on behalf of OMRS. "Our original plan to buyback tires from drivers who aren't planning to run the entire OMRS schedule will still be offered, with details announced at a future event."
The Ontario Modifieds Racing Series sincerely apologises for any inconvenience this late rule change may cause, but feel it is in the best interest of all teams to make details of the policy known through as many sources as possible.
