2013 racing season is upon us. There are a lot of changes in the works at the fastest quarter mile race track north of the border.  Where excitement prevails each Saturday night from May through to September.  Where family and friends can gather and watch competitive racing in all classes.  Stay tuned for updates and progress at the track on the Sauble Speedway website.  P.S. Parker ... Tighten your seat belt ... 37 is on a mission!

Can't wait to see schedule and Street Stock rules, there was a lot of conversation about clarifying the cam rule and a few other grey areas at the drivers meeting, good to see the track is taking the time to do it right so teams aren't having to try and decipher on their own. Also some talk of having to run Varney a couple of times on a "Show up points" basis to run for Sauble's Point's Chase, whatever it takes to get more cars out!!!! I'm in ;D

I know at least 3 Sauble campgrounds are being well represented at the speedway. Gresel's own Sauble Fall's Campground, Have multiple sponsored car's at the track. Casemore's own North Sauble Sand's and the 16 street stock, and Sauble Beach Resort Camp sponsor's Dan Wright in Late Model and myself in Street Stock. My car is promoted throughout the campground always available to answer questions and let the kids sit in it for a pic. Usually have 20 seasonal campers that are avid fan's weekly out to the speedway.

There are a lot of great ideas from drivers and fans, but the last one got me to thinking, where is track promoters ideas how to make things better.
Going into a campground and announcing what is happening at the track is a great idea.
Even better idea, promoter has a couple volunteers go to camp ground with a couple cars and drivers, set up a tv/vcr, show some track action and give out some freebies.
Same as fan appreciation night at track, drivers who spend their hard earned money to supply a race car, get car to the track, pay to get into track are expected to pony up more money for hand outs, which is fine, not many drivers that do not mind doing that for the fans, but i have never seen a track promoter give anything out to the fans on those nights.
Kind of funny, if as drivers we say pay outs are not enough, promoters say times are tough, i can not do anything about it, but car counts and fan base is down they sure welcome our ideas and time to make things better for them.
It is a two way street or rather it should be!

Back in the eighties, the promoter at the time Bruce Bennett on race nights had a megaphone on the Pace car with a recording advertising the nights action down at the beach. Awesome way to promote to vacationers who are looking for things to do with the kids at night. The few times I brought the car to the Tuesday night show and shines in Sauble, I was surprised how many tourists didn't even know there was a track 5 minutes away. Good way to get people who aren't avid race fans, just looking for something to do with the family on a Saturday night. Good job for Squid  ;)just my 2 cents.

rio27 has the right idea & one step further would be to drive through the local camp grounds advertising the nights events at the track. Those people will be staying over night & just might be looking for some action, if they just new about it. Just another thought. Shaping up for a good year. :)
