Kevin Bridge Ready to Kick-Off Title Defense at Sauble Speedway
After working hard throughout the winter to get ready for the upcoming season, Kevin Bridge is all set for this weekend’s season opener at Sauble Speedway.

“A lot of effort and time was put into the program over the off-season in order to come out and put on a good show,” he said. “We took a step back this year with only one car; he amount of hours in a day are eaten up quickly between work, and then the family life with the three kids, so the Mini Stock is the perfect fit to give me the balance that is needed.”

In 2016, Bridge put together a dream season, beginning with the first couple nights of competition in scoring a pair of feature victories to set himself on the path to win the championship. In total, he scored four wins, six top-two’s, seven top-five’s and only one DNF in the eight feature events to bring home his first ever title.

“Last year was a dream season in the Mini,” he said. “We essentially built a new car, came out opening night and the thing was a rocket. We never finished outside the top-five in any race all year, won the championship, won the year-end invitational, and then went and had a very strong running at Frostoberest, winning the first feature.”

Now focused on this season, the goal is simple – defend the championship.

“We would also like to do some traveling towards the end of the year to establish ourselves as one of the top mini-stock teams in the province,” he said.

While Bridge’s program has gone through some changes in the winter, so has Sauble Speedway with Paul Gresel and Mark Dilley taking the track over for the 2017 season.

“Absolutely thrilled that the new ownership came on-board,” Bridge said. “I’m excited for the vision that they have and can’t wait to see what comes out of it. This year is going to be what it is going to be; they didn’t really have a chance to do a lot before the season started. But next year I believe that it is going to be the place to race in Ontario.”
