Sunset Speedway Suspensions
« on: August 17, 2010, 06:46:55 PM »
First off I would like to apologize to the fans, sponsors, racers and my staff for Saturday nights proceedings.
I do no first hand that tempers can flare at the race track and for that matter any sport but that does not make it right we are all working very hard to make it fun family entertainment and will continue to and without the support of all mention above this would not be possible so please except my apology on behave of the track and all involved.

Suspensions are as follows.

44 Super Stock ( Dave Doucett) all points and money for Aug 14,  Suspended for 3 Reg nights of racing and a $1000.00 bond for the rest of the season.

2 Mini Stock ( Shawn Ryan ) all points and money for Aug 14, Suspended for 3 Reg nights of racing and a $1000.00 bond for the rest of the season.

13 Mini Stock ( Dave Glaze ) $ 500.00 bond for 3 Reg weeks of racing

Sunset staff and myself have talk to the parties involved we all agree that this should have not happened and all are ashamed that it did so please I ask you to do not ask me about it as I am not intrested in talking about the past anymore I think we all just want to see good hard racing that is why it was built and you have my word that is what you will get.

Cheers from the sand of kanihar city..

god bless all and please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we continue to battle on all fronts.

I have always respected Mark Dilley as a person and as a racer. He truly cares about racing in Canada and he shows this over and over to the fans that see him at the track and as a members on here for telling it like it is with no BS.

He doesn't owe us any explanation on here but he cares about the fans and racers that attend Sunset.

Thanks again Mark for coming on here and clearing things up.

A BIG Thankyou goes out to the promotor and management for taking this stand about the problem a couple of weeks ago.  I still remember Mark saying a year ago, the night after  the new owners took the track over, that he had the meeting in the stands. "That he would not tolerate any fighting on the track, or, in the pits AT ALL.  This is coming from a race fan in the stands.
I can well remember Wasaga Speedway back in the 60's when run by the Batters family having to closer, because of letting fights get out of control and drivers left as well as the fans.  We want this to be the International track in Ontario and Mark is well on his and his staffs way to making it number #1. Thanks again Mark, Steve & Staff for a great job well done.

Well the new pavement is definitely a huge improvement, but I will comment further.  I have seen Sunset improve more in the last year and a half since the "new owners" took over, then it ever did over the last 30 some years.  I have watched Mark, when he is there, listened at the drivers meetings, and watched his commitment to racing on the track.  Sunset has the potential to be an "international" track, with the right commitment from the right people.  It seems to me that Mark, is well on his way, to making Sunset a top track in Ontario.  Furthermore, the penalties handed down, in my opinion, were fair.  There should be no room in racing for that kind of behaviour.

Well done Mark, I believe you have set an example for other tracks to catch up too!!

+1 Polaris.  With the super-large crowds Sunset is getting, plus onlooking and potential sponsors, this was the type of thing everyone was wondering if the managment would step up to.

No other race track has near the population around it on a 50 mile radius, so it has the greatest potential.  The track is on the edge of being the superpower of ontario OR canadian racing period.

Next year should be a huge breakout year.  This year was largely catchup and tidyup with all the new changes and challenges, and is pased its test greatly.

Go Sunset, Go Mark!
