Job Takes Second Career SOS Feature With Win at South Buxton

By Bill OLDROYD;

Saturday, July 14th would see rain wash out most speedways in Ontario,
Michigan and New York but South Buxton Raceway was fortunate enough to
miss the majority of the bad weather. Brief showers prior to warm-ups as
well as excellent track preparation made for an incredible racing
surface all evening long. With 21 cars in the pit, Campbellsville's
Kevin Job came home the winner scoring his second career sprint car
victory.

Rookie Justin Martin started the “A” Main on the pole along side veteran
Dick Mahoney. Mahoney grabbed the early lead with the 21x of Kevin Job
in hot pursuit while Martin was holding on to third. Warren Mahoney and
Keith Dempster were running fourth and fifth when the first caution of
the night flew for a Mark Swain spin.

A few laps later, Mike Ferrell collected Daryl Turford as the pair
entered turn three. Turford suffered a flat tire and other minor damage
but was not able to answer the call for the restart. Ferrell escaped
with only minor damage to his wing and restarted at the end of the pack.
Dick Mahoney paced the field followed by Job and Warren Mahoney

On the restart, Job took over the lead, which he would hold for the
balance of the race. The next caution came out when second place Warren
Mahoney spun putting he to the tail of the field. On lap 13, the red
flag waved when Frank Baranowski flipped over Ferrell who had spun in
turn four right in front of Baranowski. As a result, both drivers were
forced to retire for the night but fortunately, neither driver was injured.

The running order was still Job out front with Dempster in second and a
hard charging Kyle Patrick up to third from his tenth place starting
position. Local favourite John Riegling followed by Glenn Styres rounded
out the top five. The last several laps would see no changes in the
running order of this group as the checked flag fell.

With his 5th place finish, Styres would take over the SOS points lead as
current leader Rick Wilson elected to compete close to home at
Brockville Speedway.

Heat races were won by Joe MIDDLEMISS, Dick MAHONEY and Warren MAHONEY.
The DASH was won by Kyle PATRICK.

Next up the series returns to South Buxton Speedway for their 3rd and
final appearance of 2007 on Aug. 4th.
