Canadians showing their support for JR Fitzpatrick.
« on: February 22, 2009, 01:52:51 PM »
I got a pm from a member here. He wanted to see if we could raise money to to show our support JR Fitzpatrick. (The member can say his user name on here if he wants to)

I said sure why not as I want to support JR Fitzpatrick. I already have the guy with the idea willing to give 100.00 to do so.

I contacted JR Fitzpatrick truck team via the webpage to find out what is needed.

Spread the word and let people know where they can donate.

Not to be a jerk, but what about doing the same for Kennington. It costs alot more to run  in Nationwide.

Sorry I was asked about JR first. I could put an option to pick who you want it to go too but this would most likely do no good for either of them.

I don't know what to say just trying to help out.

The member that made the sugestion is me. My $100 is in. My thoughts were for one race as reports I have seen say they are commited to 5 races only. I do not know JR or anyone else involved but have seen the kid race and want him to succeed. My proposal is that CRO goes on the hood or quarter with an accompaning press release. Canadians help out Canadian Champ! I have no idea what it would cost to keep them going for one race but I know there are members here who are in contact with his team so let us know. This is why I also suggested that if this doesn't work out then the track champs program would benefit. How cool would it be to see CRO on the hood and get some props from the Speed guys. Let us put our money where our mouths are and help JR out. I think we can all agree that he has the talent and even if we can only help him for only one race I think it is worth it.

If we have overwhelming support I have no problem helping out both. My thoughts were to keep JR's mojo going firstly. DJ seems to have stable funding in place for now but let us see how the CRO family does with this project first.

Thanks Ernie for the Donation.

Let spread the word everywhere: Facebook, Myspace, Websites and more. RTR can you mention this on Mondays show and maybe we can make this happen.

I will keep everyone posted on Donations

$100.00 Ernie
$  25.00 Evan (CRO) sorry wish I could give more but I'm tapped out from buying a new car and last event. If I get a sponsor I can give a bit more.

I will put up a auction site to help raise more I think I have some things I could auction off. The wife is nagging me to clean the basement of collectables.

My $100 was to get the ball rolling not to set a base line. We have enough members here that $5 or $10 or whatever should add up. Also I am not trying to push anyone into donating. This is my way of maybe getting involved as a fan and helping out a Canadian boy if possible and that is why I suggested the fall back charity donation if we don't quite raise enough.

Unfortunitly truck racing is quite costly.
A set of tires $1800 a set x 6 sets= $10, 800
Engine lease $30,000 a race
Lodging $200 a night x 10 rooms x 4 nights $8000
Flights $150 a person one way x 15 people $4500
Meals $75 a day x 15 people x 4 days $4500
Hauler fuel $2000
$10000 worth of maintance / wear and tear on the truck per race
$5000 worth of wages a race ($50,000 a year x 15 guys /25 races)
thats over $80,000 and you still don't have a shop lease and utilities or paid insurance on your hauler and buisness, or done any damage to the truck.  The numbers I have heard are $100,000- $150,000 a race.
Oh ya you still need to buy a hauler, pit carts, trucks (atleast 6), spares, and tools.

You need to get the cause onto the satelite radio shows JR seems to have a huge fan following on that!

I am not under any illusions here. I know the $ amount may be substantial. How many CRO members do we have Evan? Let's see what JRs team says when they get back to Evan. Either way let's try and get something going here and if we fail then the track Champs program gets a big boost. Right now it is my understanding that the team has plans to run 5 races without sponsorship. I think if we can get enough cash to offset one race CRO is going on the hood. Even if it is one of the 5 races they are planning to run already.

P.S. I say again. I do not know Evan or JR. This is something I am trying to get going as a fan and have put up my $ to get going. Not trying to be a hero just getting involved with the help of all the good people on CRO.

I have a huge Decal and I would buy a new one if needed. Any amount will help. We have a lot of members but this how it has to work.

Everyone let friends/fans know what we are doing and where they can donate and we see what we can do.

It's about everyone getting involved by donating or telling someone about what we are trying to do and if we could get a small mention on Race Time Radio that would also let people know what we are doing.

Matt if you are around can you do me a favor and make a small logo we could get people on here to post on there pages with a link to the donate button.

Thanks

OK I have posted a link on 3 places already and if everyone does this we can get the word out to people.

I have already signed up for fundraising help and maybe they can help us raise some money.

I'm willing to donate 25% of sales on shirts at http://canadianracingonline.wordans.com/ (These shirts are made for us and they handle paments and shipping. We get a commision on the shirts and that is where I will apply the 25% of the comission I get.)

I have also listed a couple of auctions at the CRO Auction site http://www.canadianracingonline.com/auction/

If you have anything you would like to give us to auction for are fund raising effort for JR or Project Track Champion please pm and I will give you the address to ship it to.

Thank You

So people don't think that we would take donations away from the track champion program I also made a donation to that today. No I am not independently wealthy but I am in a position to help out and  I am also a United Way supporter. I am lucky enough to have a job that is pretty much recession proof. I know others do not and times are tough but for those that can let us see what we can do here. Sorry Wesley_ Motorsports. If you do come to Delaware this year as you have contemplated I will support you by going to the track  ;)

I hope I am not coming off all high and mighty here as that is not my intent and sometime hard to convey in an email or text posting. My intent by starting this is simply what has been stated.
