Well is there any??
-
not to sure if it's true or not but i heard Kris Lawerence, the number 50 junior late model may be driving a super stock at Delaware and his junior late model at Grand bend
-
I heard that someone from 9hp sprints will be in a truck.
-
That is possibly Star Tanton...she drove the 91 9HP
-
one of my friends is planning on buying a late model. His last name is Brown and he is hoping to race this year.
-
With the Grand Bend schedule being released the 9 hp & 6.5 hp classes being raced on different nights, the Rooterman race team will be racing at Chesterman's Indoor Track in Tillsonburg. Too bad, we enjoyed racing at Grand Bend the last 3 yrs. We're now looking forward to racing Saturdays until June, then Tuesday nights through September, then back to Saturdays. I would think we're not the only race team with this dilemma.
-
does this mean you wont be racing the 440 at gbs?
-
We may race the 440 on a limited schedule or we might sell the car.As I posted before, with the 9 horse and 6.5's racing on different nights makes it even harder to find time to run the 440. I don't know what their thinking was there with the schedule. I noticed the j cars pretty much run together on the same nights????????

Can you give us some info on Chesterman's Indoor Track?

it is primarily an indoor motocross track.....they make an oval track in the summer

I think they are trying to shorten the race events to keep spectator's attention. Just my opinion.

25_JLM_13hp You may have to elaborate on this. There's no difference in the amount of time taken to put on a jcar race OR a microsprint race. I used to be skeptical about people saying there was favortism towards the j cars over the microsprints, but now it appears that way to me also. JUST MY OPINION.
-
Well, the way I understand it (correct me if I am wrong) is that in the past, the 6.5's and 9's usually ran on the same night, and this year they are placing them, for the most part, on different race days. I believe they are doing this to shorten up the night (1-2 less divisions on the average race night). Please let me know if I am wrong.
And about the alleged favoritism to the JCAR people: every time I talk to Brad at any length about the speedway, he ends up talking about the micros and the 9hp sprints more than anything else (including touring divisions, trucks, etc.)
-
I hear what you're saying but why just the microsprints, why not the jcars? I jsut don't see the difference between the two. Thanks Mike
-
Because basically every race the JLM/Mini-Trucks have off at GBS, we are racing somewhere with the traveling series. I compiled a schedule the other weekend, and from opening day to end season championships, if you run both series, you have three weekends off.
-
Actually the trucks only have 2 weekends off...Mother's Day weekend and the 16th of August...that is if you run both series!
-
Opening day is May 3rd, the second home series race is May 17th. The first JCAR race is May 25th. There is one weekend there, then between the JCAR races Aug. 9th and 24th, then between the last two GBS home series races.
-
j car home races -15
j car travelling series - 10
microsprints home - 25
microsprints travelling - 3
To run for points we have to be at the track 25 times a season. We don't have the option of running a 15 race home series or a 10 race travelling series. That's the biggest difference. Last year 5 or 6 teams ran both classes of micros on the same day.
-
The race meeting hasn't happened yet and there is still time for change. Talk to Brad about the number of weekends you have to be at the track to run both entrants in the micros and minis, and the number of teams affected. I believe that adding the micros, minis and 400 to traveling events is evidence of his support of the micros, minis and 440s.
-
was hoping he was going to have more then one thunder car special this year>>last year brad said he was thinking of having 4...
-
i was surprised ot only see two 4 cyl. speacials as well...this is an early schedule posting for a track though...usualy you are looking at early march...
-
Just curious what are V6 and V8 Super Trucks, and how many are there i see theres a june 22nd on a sunday would be interested in seeing what its all about.

thinking about making the trip?
-
If there gonna be a good count on trucks and everything else thats running.
-
I think they are basing the super trucks on the ARCA trucks.
It's really cool that they posted the schedule so early, it leaves a lot of time to make plans, and decide just how much of a schedule you want to go after. I know that basically everyone that traveled ran the home series, except for myself and the 3 truck. I'm really looking forward to running both again this year. Although my parents like the odd weekend off, I'd rather race than go on vacation lol
-
So the trucks havnt been there before?
-
I thought the super trucks were V8? The arca trucks are V6 with a couple I4 and a scale model while the super trucks if I remember weren't scale cars.
-
Home series - 11 races
Jcar - 8 races
Specials - 2 races
off weekends - may 10, aug.16, sept. 20
-
arca is v6 but are looking at goin to v8 in the near future.
-
but isn't there still a size difference I though the super trucks were brought up with converting sportsman cars which makes them alot bigger than an arca truck.

I think they canned that idea.
-
Wow I'll have to read the new rules then, I haven't read them since the first rule book they brought out.
-
#39 truck has been sold. Didn't even get to say goodbye to it! Going to miss that thing... But, I've got the new Can-Am Midget in the shop!
-
running the whole series corey?..hope to see ya at the beach>>
-
The plan is to run the whole season. Hope to get a sponsor deal together soon, as it's looking like it's going to be a tough go this year. We've got a good car, so we've got high hopes for this season.

Corey were going to miss you at Grand Bend this year. Your a colourful young guy with lots of driving talent.......take your time learning in your new hot rod.....im sure its going to be a whole lot different then what you are use to.
I look forward to seeing you run your TQ when your at Grand Bend.
Can you tell us who the lucky new owner is of the Mini Truck?
Best Wishes
Rob James

Thanks for the kind words Rob. Looking forward to our 3 races at GBS and seeing all our friends up there. Hopefully be able to put on a good show for you.
I was actually on vacation when my dad sold the truck. I do know who bought it, but I don't know anything about their deal with the mini truck yet. I believe the new owner is a member on this site, so I'll let him fill you in if he wants.
-
Cant find any rules on the super trucks online. Kind of makes it hard for somebody too build one. If they were actually the same as ARCA that would be a bonus with all the races they have in the area now. If not they should consider what Delaware has going.
-
This is Ontario. That makes too much sense, so why would they do it? Of course, depending on their financial relationship between themselves and the dragway, it might not matter in a year's time after all...
-
First Sunset race is the same night as OSCAAR, looks like there won't be a lack of rubber on the track this time around!

I think that could be a neat marketing opportunity showcasing the youngest stock car racers (how you can start) with the fastest (where you could progress too) in terms of absolute speed all on the the same track the same night.
Something to think about.

It's is especially neat to watch the JLM and Trucks, and then watch the OSCAARs go through the corners. At Barrie, it looked like we were going much faster through the centre of the corner.
