PRO STOCK TOUR HEADS TO PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND FOR LUCAS OIL 100

(Halifax, NS, July 26, 2016) The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour heads to Oyster Bed Speedway this Saturday for the Lucas Oil 100. This is the only stop on Prince Edward Island this season for the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour. The Lucas Oil 100 marks race eight of twelve on the season for the Maritime based stock car racing series. Qualifying for the Lucas Oil 100 gets underway with Atlantic Tiltload Heat Races at 6:00 PM.

The Lucas Oil 100 at Oyster Bed Speedway is shaping up to be an unofficial “battle of the bridge” as at least ten Island drivers will look to defend their turf against the drivers coming from the mainland. Darren MacKinnon (Charlottetown, PE) is the defending winner of the Lucas Oil 100 while former Oyster Bed Speedway winners Jonathan Hicken (Brudenell, PE), Greg Proude (Springvale, PE) and Kent Vincent (Westmoreland, PE) will also look to return to former home track glory.

Dylan Gosbee (Cornwall, PE), Robbie MacEwen (Sherwood, PE), Joel Hickox (Cornwall, PE), Terry Dougay (Albany, PE) and Allison MacKinnon (Oyster Bed Bridge, PE) are all former Oyster Bed Speedway Late Model drivers with varying success from championships to race wins at their home track. They will look to transfer that to a Lucas Oil 100 victory on the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour.

Nevin Scott (Marshfield, PE) will be looking to swing the Exide Batteries Rookie of the Year chase back in his favor after an early exit from the Irving Blending & Packaging 150 at Petty International Raceway. Scott, who cut his teeth racing in the Street Stock class, will be one to watch in his first Pro Stock Tour appearance on his home turf.

The chase for the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour Championship is tight as the second half of the season heats up. Dylan Blenkhorn (Truro, NS) maintains the points lead heading into the Lucas Oil 100; however he has Cassius Clark (Farmington, ME) just ten markers behind. Current Series champ Donald Chisholm (Antigonish, NS) sits third 39 points out of first. Cole Butcher’s (Porter’s Lake, NS) win last weekend sees him climb one spot to fourth, while Craig Slaunwhite (Terence Bay, NS) rounds out the top five.

Prior to the Lucas Oil 100 Oyster Bed Speedway Street Stocks will contest their second of three Super Series races of the year. The Upper Clements Parks Maritime League of Legends Tour will also compete in a 50 lap feature.
