New Tours Speedway is ready to roll!!!

French oval track completes its extension with new banking to welcome  Euro NASCAR season’s main event on July 5th and 6th

Tours, France - One year after elevating turns 3 and 4 with a 9-degrees (16%) banking that mirrors the Indianapolis famous track, Tours Speedway is ready to hit another milestone. The ambitious project started in 2011 by Team FJ and Tours Evénements – to build a NASCAR oval track in the Parc des Expositions, located in downtown Tours – is seeing its full completion thanks to  the addition of two more 10.5-degrees (18.5%) banked corners – turn 1 and 2 – and a length extension.

The new section of the sole NASCAR oval track outside of North America was once again designed and developed in cooperation by Team FJ, Tours, NASCAR, and French Federation (FFSA) experts and construction was completed last week, bringing the length of the Speedway to nearly ½ mile (650 meters). Tours Speedway becomes now a true NASCAR short-track, with fast sweeping turns and different racing lines granting a superb show for the fans and a real challenge for drivers and teams.

“This is now a typical NASCAR track!” said Jerome Galpin, NASCAR Whelen Euro Series President - CEO after the first tests. “It’s absolutely unique in Europe and I’m sure our teams and drivers will put  up a great show for our first races there. An event every race fan wants to attend, a lifetime experience for the whole family… I can’t wait to see the green flag wave.”

Every year in early July the track hosts one of the most important event in the NASCAR European calendar, attracting drivers from all over the world, ready to battle for a win in what is unanimously considered the Daytona 500 of the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series.

This year the four nail-biting 75-laps races will take place on July 5-6, in the contest of one of the biggest american-themed festivals of the old continent: the American Tours Festival. Fans will enjoy concerts, cars and custom bikes exhibitions, rodeos, line dance shows alongside the unique atmosphere of the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series Paddock. Last year’s 40 000 fans attendance is expected to be surpassed.
