Brandon McFerran Picks Up Feature Victory at Sunset Speedway

After coming oh so close last week, Brandon McFerran would do it this week. McFerran would pick up the feature victory at Sunset Speedway for his first feature win of the season.

He would win the first heat after starting sixth. He would back that up with another win in the second heat after starting near the front.

In the feature, he would start 16th, though quickly made his way up to fourth by lap three, avoiding trouble as he worked his way through the field with the three cautions that happened.

On the restart after the third caution, McFerran would go three-wide with Doug Wilman and Gehrig Haliday for second, passing them both. Then down in turn four, he would pass Kevin Pickford for the lead.

From there, the young driver would hold on, leading the rest of the way while avoiding lap traffic and keeping the lead on a late race restart with five laps to go.

“It’s unbelievable,” McFerran said afterwards. “We’ve into the fifth week of our season and I’ve been so close every time – got in the wall wrecked, cut off by lap traffic – but we finally did it. It feels great.”

Moving forward into the coming months of the season, there are plans for McFerran and his team to travel around the province.

“I think we’re mainly going to come to Sunset, but also run Flamboro, Sauble, Varney – we’re just going to travel and have fun,” he said.

Photos are available on McFerran’s website –http://www.brandonmcferran.com – with thanks once again to Debbie Jo Zardo for some of her photos.

Special thanks to the sponsors for the support: Peter D. Laird, Meisner Construction, Thringco (Bev Thring), East End Car Wash, Roadranger, Absolutewedsite.com, and John J Mcferran & sons trucking.

Also, special thanks to the fans who came out and got an autograph card during Fan Appreciation festivities.
