Jordan Latimer Suffers Mechanical Failure at Sunset Speedway

Jordan Latimer looked poised to have another strong run at Sunset Speedway on Saturday night, when a mechanical failure would see his feature end early.

With the Sunset Speedway Late Models running a 60-lap main event instead of twin 35-lap features, they’d run a single heat to help set the starting line-up. He would put together a solid performance, scoring a third-place finish.

Come feature time, he'd find himself battling for eighth with Thayne Hallyburton in the early stages, until a pair of leaders made contact up ahead, causing a flat tire and caution. Restarting seventh, he'd battle with Taylor Holdaway for the position. The first few laps didn't go as planned after the green flag, though, as he'd fall back to ninth by Lap 17. Unfortunately, the fade continued, as he'd run 12th by Lap 25.

He continued to run 12th, solidly quickly clicking off laps, before making his way down pit road under green at Lap 54. It was determined that a spark plug had come off the No. 90 Late Model, which was the reason for being down in horsepower. He'd be credited with an 18th-place finish.

Latimer will be back at Sunset Speedway on May 26 in hope of scoring his second top-five of the 2018 campaign.
