Maritime League of Legends Sail into Seaside Chevrolet 50 Saturday at Petty Raceway

SACKVILLE, NB (August 24th, 2017) - The Maritime League of Legends Tour continues a busy August with a stop this Saturday, August 26th at Petty International Raceway for the Seaside Chevrolet 50. The Seaside Chevrolet 50 is Race Seven of Nine on the 2017 season and second of two stops at the high banked River Glade, New Brunswick oval for the year. The Legends event is a part of the 53rd Jones Auto Body River Glade International which also features the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour and the Cummins 200. Racing begins on Saturday with qualifying at 6pm.

Waylon Farrell (Conception Bay South, NL) has been the talk of the town recently. Farrell passed the most cars one week ago at Riverside International Speedway in the Farrell’s Excavating Limited 50 to finish second to winner Braden Langille (Shubenacadie, NS). With three races to go, the reigning tour champion has a 44 point lead on his competition and will be looking to better his third place finish at Petty International Raceway in July.

The battle for second on the Maritime League of Legends Tour is a duel between a former multiple time series champion and a relative newcomer looking to continue his breakout season. Justin MacNeill (Bedford, NS) is a former champion on River Glade International weekend and leads Adam Meehan (Rawdon Gold Mines, NS) by a single point in the standings. Meehan won the season opening Atlantic Tiltload 50 at Scotia Speedworld in May and finished third last Saturday during the Farrell’s Excavating Limited 50 at Riverside.

Adam Meehan’s older sister Emily holds down fourth in the point standings. Emily sits 23 points behind her brother but only a single point up on New Brunswick’s top driver in the championship chase. Darren Sherwood (Cambridge-Narrows, NB) scored a season best fourth place finish at Petty International Raceway in July and will look to land on the podium Saturday during the Seaside Chevrolet 50.

Two drivers changes will give a pair of drivers their first Legend starts on the high banked Petty International Raceway on Saturday. Rookie of the Year leader Kyle Shipley (Halifax, NS) will hand the wheel of the #28 car to Scotia Speedworld Lightning car driver David Jollimore. Shipley took the lead in the top freshman chase last weekend at Riverside International Speedway and sits 11th overall in the point standings heading into the Seaside Chevrolet 50.

Andrew Lively (Middle Sackville, NS) will substitute for Shane Lively in the #22 car, which is currently sixth in the standings heading into Saturday night. Andrew Lively competes full time at Scotia Speedworld and while he has four starts on the series this year in his own car, it will be his first career Legend race at Petty International Raceway.

Grandstand admission prices for Saturday’s events at Petty International Raceway, including the Seaside Chevrolet 50, are $35 for adults and $10 for youth aged eight to 18, while children seven years of age and under will be admitted free. Pit admission is $40 and is restricted to those 16 years of age and older. Tickets are available at the gate on race day. Pit gates for competitors open at 1:30pm, grandstand gates open for spectators at 4pm with racing getting underway at 6pm.
