Nite 2 was cool at Humberstone !

The stands were half full on what turned into a cool spring nite in Port Colborne. All the work on corners 1 and 2 still hasnt paid off yet. By the time the heats were done drivers were taking on a mogul type ski course, which caused a number of drivers too loose control and take out other competitors. During intermission the graders were out and the track was back into pretty good shape for the start of the sportsman feature. But by the time #38 Rob Pratt won his second feature in a row the moguls were back. This was evident when last weeks street stock feature winner Brad Sheehan in his M1 Camaro tried to make a run on the outside coming out of 2 and the mogul shot his car in the air and out of shape, cancelling what could have been a great 2 car battle to the finish. This enabled the #48 of Bill Hogue to cruise to victory. Hogue was running third in the late stages of the race, but took the low side pass on Sheehan and #117 Rick Beales who came together in turn 2 battling for the lead, maybe due to the moguls. James Small in the 10s checked out in the mini feature from his pole position start. Garnet Wilson #71 broke from the pack to chase Small down in quick fashion, but had nothing for Small when he got close, as Small just put the gas down alittle further.LOL. The trucks were having a real hard time by nights end as there was nowhere in the corners to run without hitting a large rut. This caused a few accidents, plus a few drivers caused some on their own. One truck actually doing a wheelie climbing over another. By features end the #29 Ford Ranger of Doug Banner took the checkers of the competitors left running. Humberstone is a great track for some Sunday fun, admission was only $10 for adults, food prices are reasonable, they keep the action going non stop, show started at 6:30 and we were on our way home at 10 and that was after a lengthy intermission to smooth out the track surface, which they are working to improve every week. Unfortunately it was a litle rougher tonight, but that makes it alittle more exciting and of course challenging for the drivers.
Next weekend its Mayhem Weekend starting at 2. Enduro, flag pole race, red rover race and plenty more.....lots of cars getting destroyed basically.
