Racing started an hour late. Heats were uneventful, except for McWhirter getting into someone on the frontstretch, starting a chain reaction that ended with the #8 of Paul Gresel in the wall. Race started at 11:20. Guys were racing like idiots, driving like it was a 25 lap race, not a 150 lap race with two pit stops. Took almost 2 hours to run the first 48 laps. Second 50 went decently quick, since the field was thinned a bit, and they started counting caution laps. Went green from 100 to 130 when it started raining. They went green, Jr Farrelly backed into the turn 2 wall, caution again. Goes green to checkers. Steve Robblee wins, Ron Sheridan second, Rob MacDonnell third. Kirk Hooker led most of the race, but was sent to the back after the second 50 for working on his car longer than the allotted time, as was Jonathan Urlin. Urlin and Jamie Ramsay spent a few laps trying to wreck each other. The first few cautions were terrible for trying to get guys lined up for the restart. Race ended at 2:15 AM. Maybe 5 cars left without damage of any kind.

I am glad that I did not make the trip.  The show was poorly planned from the beginning.  It must have been cold at 2:15 am in the morning there!  How many people in the grandstands for the show (I have heard reports of about 300-400 )?  Why would they leave the Late Models until the very end of the show?  Sauble seems to not consider the fans in a lot of their decisions and it shows in the attendance.  The new owner Jason Thom may be wondering what the hell he got himself into after 3 weeks and Joe Chisholm is probably smiling all the way to the bank.

Actually, I was impressed, considering the hand they got dealt with the weather. Running the late model guys first would have saved them maybe 45 minutes, all the other divisions ran pretty quickly, and that would have screwed over the guys that show up every week (although some stayed anyways to watch). There were a few hundred that were in the stands, and most stayed all night. Jason has been dealt some terrible hands as far as weather and (in the case of last night) some drivers with more money than talent. I was very impressed to see him running around all night, headset on, working. He did some officiating for the pit stops, he ran the fuel pumps, and a lot of other stuff that you don't usually see a track owner doing.

I congratulate the new owners for giving this race the longest ever here  (150 lap)at trying this.As new owners they will learn the good and the bad of owning a race track.I can see this race being a sucess in years to come but they will have to change a few things like make the race later in the year (re possibly better weather) make it a July or August race. This maybe tough but donot run all your regular groups that night (take maybe 1 divisions plus your main race 150 lap Late Model ) or move your starting time to an afternoon start time (2P.M. with time Trials at 1 P.M.If for some reason the race has to be cancelled due to weather make a rain date as the Sunday.I know the owners will sort things out and take the good & bad of last nights race and make next years bigger & better.Keep up the good work.

I'm still mad got home at 5 am. I get the starting late due to weather but they stalled for ever before the race and could have skipped the driver intros out of car when they are telling us how cold it is we know were up there freezing.  Teh clean up crew is was too small and poorly equipped.  how does a small track need three people lining up the cars gesturing at the track just give them ONE guy to look for and put the spotters in an area where they can have a track official tell the spotters where their driver should beand if you don't supply one then well you just don't get your spot back.  The lining up process ruined the whole night and the pit exit guy needs a lighted stick and reflective clothing before he gets hit since drivers are already ignoring or just can't see him.  This whole line up business is really burning my keister and i will not be out there spending any more of my hard earned money there for such a debacle.  I have now seen my donkey show for the year.  Oh im just still too pissed to continue I'm going out to run erands and them most likely back to bed. Sunset speedway goodbye

sorry sauble godbye, lack of sleep still in full effect and I'm still not happy.  Sauble should be kissing our buts for being there not trying to torture us.  I should have just gone down to crystal instead for the sprints race.

Sauble (and other local asphalt tracks) should take a lesson from Merrittville on how to run off a show, especially in poor weather. As far as I am concerned there is no excuse to subjecting your fans on a very cold night to starting your biggest race at 11:20 pm and finish around 2:15 am in the morning.  All those 300 or so fans should be able to use their ticket for at least a 1/2 price discount on a future show.

Sauble only gets about a dozen Mini Stocks and Thunder cars so all of the heats including Late Models should only take about 60-90 minutes if you are running an efficient show. Then they should have gone straight to the Late Model feature. I had concerns from the start about how long it would take to run 150 laps with breaks between segments.

As a comparison, the ACT Tour ran 100 green flag laps on the 1/4 mile Thunder Road Speedbowl in Vermont last Sunday in about 28 minutes ; Jonathan Urlin was in the field.

How many of the 31 cars were what most educated fans would call Limited late Models (ie: Sauble home track Late Models)?

Congratulations to Steve Robblee on his win in his first ever visit in a Late Model chassis (he won in the OSS style car last June I believe).
