ared Zimbardi Patriot Sprint Tour feature winner at Cornwall Motor Speedway
Cornwall, Ont – Sunday, July 17, 2016 – Martin Bélanger – Cornwall Motor Speedway had a big evening of racing as the Patriot Sprint Tour was in town for their annual trip along with a Lightning Sprint Canada-Usa Challenge and a DIRTcar regional series 50-lap event for the Modified, the Sportsman and Novice Sportsman completed the evening on Burnbrae Farms night.
The 25-lap Patriot Sprint Tour feature saw Jason Barney in the lead in the first portion of the event, Barney was able to manoeuver into traffic as the feature picked up momentum and Jared Zimbardi made his way to second and challenged Barney for the lead, Zimbardi made a great move and pass Barney with less than five laps to go and went to capture the win over Barney and Mitch Brown who made some late moves to finish on the podium.
In the Bandit Motorsports Modified feature, Lance Willix was dominant has he led the whole 50-lap event counting for the DIRTcar regional series, Willix had only 1 yellow flag to resist in the first portion of the event. Behind the leader, Bobby Herrington and Chris Raabe battled for the second spot as Raabe had the best over Herrington who finished on the last step of the podium.
Steve Morris had a strong showing in the 25-lap Tracy Wheeler Storm Realty Sportsman feature, he dealt with several cautions and had strong starts on each occasions and went on to capture win #1 of the season over
The Lightning Sprints were in town for their 25-lap Canada-Usa Challenge, Guillaume Nedeirer used all his experience and was able to use traffic to his advantage to capture the win over Alex Therrien and Jordan Poirier.
The Polar Sound DJ Service Novice Sportsman was the final feature on the card, it was redemption for Greg Ezard who finally put his #87 Polar Sound Express in the winner circle.
A full race program is on the schedule next Sunday as the STR and Slingshot will be in town along with Bandit Motorsports Modified Dash.
