JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour at Columbus Motor Speedway Saturday

Salem, IN (May 22, 2012) – The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by GM Performance Parts will head to Columbus Motor Speedway, located in Columbus, Ohio this Saturday for the Coughlin Cars.com 100 Presented by JEGS.com. The event will be the fourth race of the season for the crate motor template bodied series and its second event in a tough three straight weekends of racing.

Last season’s Coughlin Cars.com 100 Presented by JEGS.com on the racy 1/3 mile was a very exciting event won by Outlaw Late Model veteran Jimmy Carter. Carter had to fight off veteran Mid-west racer Eddie Hoffman and then Chad Finley late in the race to get the win. Finley tried a daring three wide pass of Carter and Hoffman on the last lap, but had to settle for third.

Last weekend’s JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by GM Performance Parts at Illiana Motor Speedway was claimed by many to be the most exciting finish in CRA history as Daniel Hemric just nudged out Hoffman to get the victory, his second in three series events this season. The pair ran side by side for several laps at the end of the event with Brent Downey right behind the pair in third place.

Hemric comes into the Columbus event second in points with his two wins and a third place finish at Winchester Speedway. Top Rookie Howie Lettow Rookie of the Year Presented by Howe Racing contender Anderson Bowen came into Illiana as the point’s leader, but dropped to third place after a sixth place finish Saturday. The 14 year old contender form Suwanee, Georgia has finishes of third, fourth and sixth in the three series events this season. Downey is now the point’s leader with great finishes in the first three events plus earning the Boyne Machine Company Fast Qualifier Award at Illiana.

All the top series regulars are entered for Saturday’s event including Hoffman and Finley along with Josh Nelms, Jerrod Foley, Ali Kern, Chris Koslek, Wes Griffith Jr., Tom Woodin and Delaware, Ohio native Cody Coughlin, last year’s Howie Lettow Rookie of the Year with the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour. Other top rookie candidates that are entered include Brandon Hermiller, Taylor Ferns, Jordan Miller, and Beavercreek, Ohio’s Brandon Oakley. David Carter and Johnny Jenkins, both former full-time competitors at Columbus Motor Speedway, are also entered for Saturday’s race.

On Saturday rig parking will start at 11:30am, pit gates open at 12:30pm. Practice will begin at 3pm with qualifying at 6:15pm. The race program will begin at 7pm and will include the Coughlin Cars 100 Presented by JEGS.com for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by GM Performance Parts. Also racing on Saturday night will be the Columbus Late Models, Modifeds, Sport Stocks and Compacts.
