Thunder Car - midseason
« on: July 21, 2008, 09:51:58 PM »
So am I the only one who doesn't want to run OUR midseason with Barrie cars?  Don't get me wrong, I like racing with the BSW Thunders, but in our midseason?

No offence guys, but I don't want to be wrecked by a Barrie car or any other visitor during my midseason!

Not all of us have the support (people &/or $$$) to drive like an a$$.  Maybe consider taking the weekend off and cooling down.  Show the track the mistake they made by dropping the Thunders for the night.  Drive a clean night - green to checkered with no cautions.

Now that you point it out Kristi, it would be very unfortunate to see one of our Thunders, during the midseason race, get wrecked or ruined just because another track has the night off and decide they'd like to run with us.

Sure, it bring the car count up, bring fans to the track, and it' could be fun, but not for a 40 lapper midseason, which I'd assume is quite important to some if not ALL, Thunder Drivers at Sunset.

Anybody else could probably say that Sunset cars come and run at their track at random times during the season, but I don't know if regular races are as important as the midseason (obviously.)

For our Thunders sake, I hope that we don't have too many visitors.

Miss Sunset knows how to neuter.
Don't mess with the new car. =)

My view is that the more the better. There are alot of guys upset with Barrie right now, and if we show them an open home like we have 2 or 3 weeks so far this year the better chance we can grow and improve our thunder car division. We have one of the bigger payouts and this may equate out to more car in the future. Which is good for the division car count wise and will give some of our slower thunder car guys motivation to get working and get faster....no one likes putting it on the trailer before the feature.....and with a 24 car cap were not to far off. Imagine if we had the 24 car cap last year....we would have been sending home 7 or 8 cars a night. But as it stands we can have a full field of competitive Thunder car for 40 laps and see some of the best racing this year....maybe the best suggestion will be take the barrie guys that run out of the points equation and give those how DNQ last place feature points.

Frankly from what people have been saying, some of the "Barrie" guys showing up, are no longer "Barrie" guys to begin with...

If these guys wanna come and try the track out to consider wether they wanna close out the year at Sunset, and give us an awesome show in the process...how is that at all a bad thing?

Alot of people that have nothing to do with the thunder car class will probably have alot of differing opinions on this, but hopefully the track management consults the drivers and the officials and makes a decision from there....

of course your view is the more the better - you don't drive!  Mid season and End of season races are a bonus of sorts for the drivers who stick it out all year.

Not saying Varney is ideal, but when I raced there, you had to race both heats to qualify for the feature - no last minute show-ups.  And mid & end of season races were raced by registered drivers who had a minimum number of weeks (don't remember the exact number).  Shows a little respect for the drivers eh!

Why is the owners focus always on the money coming into the pits?  What about the thosands of dollars I give the track every year?

Is quantity really better than quality?  Ask fans at Sunset why they love the Thunders?  Every one will say its because we put on a quality show.

Oh, and we had a car cap last year - it was 27 - and we never turned away 7 or 8 cars!

well i was going to come and run this weekend, and i don't know this kristy wolfe, but i can guarantee that i would not wreck anyone nor do i need to cool down. we are not a bunch of idiots. i had such a good time last time i was there, i couldn't wait until our next night off so i could come back. BUT if this is the way the drivers feel at sunset, and don't get me wrong i'm not mad, i just won't go where i'm not wanted. Go junior and herbie, i hope you finish 1 2 either way!

it has nothing to do with you not being wanted.  It's that it is our mid season race.

midseason is for the regulars, its a big race and if something did happen between us and a sunset car(race shit happens) i would feel like crap. but it will take alot of people to keep me away aug 16th. i will come watch though!
