The 'Hot August Night' joint venture race with the Lucas Oil Can-Am Midgets and the Casey's Midgets at Sunset Speedway (Ont) has been cancelled for tonight. Mother Nature has finally delivered a long overdue heavy rain for the region the past few days and more was expected today. Lucas Oil Can-Am Midget President Ken Lorenz said "I was really looking forward to this special race and the fans would have been in for a treat. Now we will work on a date for next season".
Plans are in the works to reschedule this 1st time event in Canada in 2013. With both Club's schedules already full for the remainder of this year, they are looking towards a date next year.
The Lucas Oil Can-Am Midgets will be at Flamboro Speedway on Saturday, August 18th. With five races remaining Darren McLennan, defending 2011 Champion still leads the points by 46 over Rob Neely in second. Mack DeMan is in 3rd by 6 points under Neely and James Gray is only 10 points below DeMan. The final 5 races will be exciting as these fierce competitors step up the pace with the 2012 Championship on the line.
