DEMAN TOPS LUCAS OIL CAN-AM MIDGETS AT FLAMBORO SPEEDWAY

Mack DeMan grabbed the checkered flag for the second time this season as the Lucas Oil Can-Am Midgets raced at the 'Don Biederman Memorial' race night at Flamboro Speedway. Taking over the lead from Steven Murdock on lap 9, DeMan cruised to Victory in the 25 lap feature event. Thanking his dad and Andy and Craig Mackereth for their hard work during the week that made his car great tonight. "A big thanks goes to Lucas Oil for all their support and to all the fans here tonight," said DeMan.

Barry Dunn and Steven Murdock paced the field to the green flag for the start of the race. Murdock took command going into turn 2. Rob Neely, started 6th, was now up to third. Darren Dryden and DeMan rounded out the top five. Neely took over second place one lap later with DeMan following his lead. Murdock held the point as the field went into turn two on lap 4. Neely was forced high and fell back to 8th place. Murdock now had a five car lead over DeMan while the strong running Dunn held on to third. Dryden was fourth with James Marche in the top five. Ryan Fraser moved into fifth with a quick pass around Marche.

On lap 6, Jeff Blackburn spun going into turn two, hooked his wheels into the pavement and did a roll over. He was uninjured but the TQ#7 had some damage and a flattened wing and he was out for the night. As the field went back to green Murdock was in command, followed by DeMan, Dunn and Dryden. Two laps later DeMan caught Murdock going into turn one and took the lead. Dunn stayed firm in third with Dryden and Fraser in a tight battle for the fourth spot. Neely was starting to come back through the field and was now on Fraser's bumper.

With 10 laps to go DeMan held a sizable lead over Murdock with Dunn and Dryden fighting for third. Fraser and Neely had a side by side chase with Neely taking over the spot passing Fraser to the inside going into turn three.
Neely then caught Dryden and they battled for the next 8 laps. DeMan held the lead as the final laps ticked off. Murdock was very strong in second with Dunn 2 car lengths behind. Neely found an opening and passed Dryden for the 4th spot with 2 to go. DeMan took the checkered flag with Murdock, Dunn, Neely and Dryden in the top five.

Heats were won by Dunn and Neely.
Of Note...Adrian Stahle blew his motor in practice and Daniel Bois gave up his ride in TQ#4 to Stahle, renumbering it to #50.
The Lucas Oil Can-Am Midgets head back south across the border to Lancaster Speedway (NY) for race #13 on Saturday, August 13th.
