Track's Sold-Interesting Off Season
« on: November 18, 2007, 09:13:38 PM »
Well it has been an interesting early off season already .First it was Barrie Speedway sold and now Sauble Speedway what will happen next. Will there be any more changes only time will tell.Barrie hires a new race Director Brian Thomas who has had experience in the big game of stock car racing in Canada (CASCAR,Cummings Series (P.Q.) .Now Sauble with new owners that have a racing background also (NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series). With these two new changes in the Auto Racing game it should be good for this business in Ontario .These two tracks now have good race people involved which in todays business you need to succeed .Should be an interesting season (2008) coming up and as for more changes who knows anything can happen

I think that the recent sale of both speedways go's to show that short track racing in Canada is starting to go big. When Nascar Whelen came to Barrie it was just the start. American racing is looking for places to go and north is the obvious choice. The Busch race in Quebec was a big hit, it goes to show that hockey is not the only thing we do up here. I just hope that if thing start to get big that the tracks involved don't forget about the Saturday night racer that drags his car to the track week in and week out is not forgoten. It will be interesting to see what comes out of the upcoming drivers meetings what changes are on the way for every track in Ontario.

Barrienxtgen you are right re changes to come as with the OSS going strong (30 registered already & looking at more in the future) I can see that the tracks should be ready for this as these cars will be racing in approx 9 races plus which means the regular tracks may have short fields for racing (hopefully not ) as I can see these cars concentrating more on the Series (OSS ) than they would on their home track. But with good money involved I would not blame them in doing this as this (Racing ) is big business now and if you can run for lets say $5000.00 approx twice a month .That is good money in racing around Ontario. Both tracks and fans have to remember that this is a big business .Changes will come for the good and hopefully everybody will be ready

I think its going to be intresting. Lots of money being spent by promotors and teams. I can see it being more competitive and harder to win in all divisions

That's the roster from last year.

Oh, they have not updated it? I think there are new names on it?
