That' video was taken from Yesterday's Davenport Subaru, Customer appreciation event.  The SPDA (http://www.spda-online.ca) hosted that event to allow the general public a personal experience on what it feels like running on an oval.  From the conversations with BSW and Davenport Subaru, it looks like this event will be run 2 or 3 times next year.

I was the MC of the day, and the great people of the SPDA along with Davenport Subaru put on a top notch event.

anyone know if there going to do the 5 laps again for the final?

Yes, this time it'll be a 2 lap KOTH for eliminations, AWD vs AWD, 2WD vs 2WD.  5 lap eliminations best 2 out of 3.

Are you coming?

interesting Joe...I wonder if BSW would ever consider getting involved with yvu guys, putting on a slalom-style halftime show like using pit road or something...could u guys do that u think? or is it too narrow/not possible....cause a real event wld be super cool and nothing like a side-show!

Anything is possible, and we're open to discussing it, for sure.  I think it'll be a good discussion during the off season, because the Barrie Guys seem to be really really busy.  I've had conversation on other things with Jim Payetta, and the crew up there seems to be quite willing to try anything.  But for the sake of the fans, It may not be too interesting for them to watch time trials.

From the initial group purchase this year, the price for that size was: 235/40ZR17 $162.90 taxes included, plus by being a member of SPDA we give you $100 Dollars of Talon Tire Coupons, plus for this year, we're giving away close to $15000.00 worth of contingency prizes.  So far we've given away 1 set of tires, plus 2 sets of clutches, plus 3000 dollars in Talon Tire coupons.

We try hard to provide member benefits, just for participating in grassroots motorsports.  Look at this link for contingency details: http://spda-online.ca/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=3950&forum=19

Hope this helps.

well dont think the STI will make it out to this event

waiting on some new tires and a few others things i got up my sleeve

but next season I'll be there forsure

JoeT its not over between us :)

Sounds like fun.. Competition is always good as long as it's friendly.  If you need deals on tires, we're willing to help, Toyo is our sponsor and we get 40+25% off on certain tires.  That's a huge savings!!  That along with other stuff required for racing, like Nomex SFI approved boots, priced to our members at 25 bucks.. Proban Suits, etc.  Benefits to membership, plus we're all nice guys (we try).

of course always just a friendly competition :)
already got tires on back order but 40to25% off sounds great dam, how much would the proxy's be 235 40 17

So how do your events work Joe? can anyone come out with their cars or do they have to meet certain car requirements.

how many events do you hold a year?

Thanks

Evan

Actually it's not our event, we're just participating in the "king of the hill" event that Barrie speedway puts on.  With Barrie, they usually hold the paying races on one Wednesday / month.  King of the Hill is basically a fill in type of event, it's like the 1/2 time show.  Anyone can enter whatever car they want, provided you run DOT approved tires.  This type of event is held on almost every oval track in Ontario.

The events we hold are quite different, Autoslaloms, Solosprints, Nav Rallies are what we normally play in.  There's an event of that type almost every weekend in Ontario. (See here for the autoslalom calendar: http://solo2.casc.on.ca/schedule/schedule.php or here for the Solosprint Calendar http://www.soloontario.com/event_schedule.html ) Both types of events are "Time Trial" type, and the difference between Autoslalom and Solosprint are, Autoslalom goes around cones, Solosprints are held on big tracks like Mosport.  Some of our guys are into the Castrol Canada Touring Car Championships too, and if you've ever been to the Toronto Grand Prix, I'm the announcer for the Touring Car guys.

Anyone can enter their car and most tracks do it weekly. It's just this one is being made a big point out of due to the prize for the winner. It's normally not this big.
