Whitteker Recognized for Rookie Achievements at Cornwall Speedway 2010 Awards Ceremony; Team Prepares for new Racing Season

Craig Revelle – Finish Line Web Design

April 2, 2011

With a new racing season approaching very quickly, Luke Whitteker and the Whitteker Motorsports team are hard at working getting the car ready for a brand new season.  The plans early in the year is to race as much as possible, and get that all-important seat time, before they get into the full swing of the 2011 racing season.

Before going full steam ahead into the new season, Whitteker and his fellow Cornwall Motor Speedway competitors were honored last Saturday night at the annual awards presentation at the Ramada Inn Cornwall.  Whitteker was recognized for his first year achievements which included fourth place overall in track points in the 358 Modified division, as well as his third place overall finish in the Doiron Cup Series, and 358 Modified Rookie of the Year.

Coming off a very impressive rookie season, winning the overall DIRTcar 358 Modified Rookie of the Year award, Whitteker is going into the new year hoping for even more success, and with the benefit of being a part of the Race 101 program, Whitteker is more focused and determined then ever before.

“The Race 101 program has really been a huge benefit to our racing program already.  I have learned so much from all of the Race 101 staff, whether it be public relations and communication and working with sponsors, or learning more about the technical side of things, and understanding shocks.  I am really looking forward to getting the season started”, says the 17-year-old student at Seaway District High School in Iroquois, Ontario.

Whitteker will get his first on track action next weekend at they travel to Merrittville Speedway for the Pete Bicknell Driving School.  Whitteker, who has attended the school the past few seasons recognizes the benefits on getting an early start, and the experience of Pete Bicknell and his staff can only help as he embarks on his sophomore season in a 358 Modified.  The following weekend will be the first race of the year at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park, on Saturday, April 16th.  From there, Whitteker will race as often as possible, in the next few weeks before their home track, Cornwall Speedway opens for the 2011 season on Sunday, May 15th.  The full 2011 schedule has not been solidified as of yet, but will be posted on the teams website as soon as possible.

Whitteker Motorsports would like to thank all of their sponsors for the support as they go into a brand new season.  Their Sponsors include Rust Check, Coldwell Banker, Steve Summers Coburn Realty, Jim’s Performance Plus, Parcoll Products/Napa Auto Parts, Quaker State, Riverside Pontiac, Toy Storage, Wells and Son Construction, 730 Truck Stop, Lloyd McMillan Equipment Ltd., ERD Engine Research and Development, and Finish Line Web Design.
