Opening night this Sunday at Cornwall Motor Speedway!
Cornwall, Ont – Friday, June 7th 2013 – Martin Bélanger – After 3 unsuccessful tries because of inclement weather, Cornwall Motor Speedway will host his opening night sponsored by Paul’s Auto Body, on tap, all 5 regulars divisions and as a bonus, the TUSA Mod Lites who will visit the speedway for the first time in history, do not forget your camera and pens as drivers will be available during intermission to sign autographs and take pictures.
Already a competitive group, the Jiffy Auto Services Modified category will now have a new face as top runner Mario Clair announced earlier this week that he will call Cornwall home on Sundays in 2013. Adding Clair to this list of drivers that includes Laurent Ladouceur, Joel Doiron, Carey Terrance, Chris Raabe and several others will make this field event tougher on any given night. We will see several new faces joining the Modified ranks this summer boosting the field to over 20 cars per Sunday night.
A huge field of cars is expected in the Tracy Wheeler Storm Realty Sportsman category as several new drivers have joined the ranks. High car counts have been registered at tracks in the area and most of these drivers will make Cornwall home on Sunday night. Defending champion Chris Herbison will have his hand full with Shane Pecore who already has 3 wins so far this year, Corey Wheeler, rookie of the year contender, Joey Ladouceur, Louie Jackson Jr and several others.
With Joey Ladouceur leaving the Alexandria Home Hardware Pro-Stock division to join the Sportsman ranks, this will open the championship hunt for several drivers. The return of Dave Bissonnette will add an extra challenge for everyone.
The Evans Bus Lines Semi-Pro group will continue to offer great evening of racing throughout the next season as a competitive field will be present each night.
A healthy field will be present for 2013 in the Baxtrom`s YIG Mini-Stock Class, as several new drivers will join the ranks of the support division. We had a glimpse at registration in May with the amount of new names registered.
The TUSA Mod Lite, a small scale version of our regular Modifieds will make their first ever appearance at the speedway, counting for the TUSA series, a big field of drivers from Ontario and Quebec will make the haul to Cornwall for this great addition to the schedule for this summer.
Do not forget to bring your camera and pens as you will be able to meet your favourite drivers at intermission time on the speedway, a very popular activity for everyone. At the same time, we will want to see your best banners as prizes will be given to the most creative ones.
For Sunday`s event, the pit gates will open at 4:00pm with general admission unlocking at 4:30pm with the first heat scheduled to start at 7:00pm. General Admission will costs 12$ with children 18 years and under only 2$, seniors 65 and over will be 7$ and Pit Admission will be $23.
