20 years ago mark martin didn't walk up to jack roush and say here is 20 million let me drive, i don't see where you can't see the difference . are you giving your son the best of the best of everything and unlimited funds? if you have an extra 10 million laying around, save your time and go south and put him in a driver development program with one of the big teams. they would be glad to help! face it, raw TALENT is at a minimum these days.

Yeah I do, and I believe he went on to win rookie of the the year at Indy...

 Ward was the Indy rookie of the year in 97 at the most screwed up Indy 500 in history . It was pretty bad in the early days of the IRL after the split when most of the field of drivers sucked to begin with but 97 was the low point of the series . 3 cars wrecked and 2 cars broke down before they made it around to take the green for the start . The race rained out on the sunday so they started it monday where it was rained off before they could get to halfway . They restarted the race on tuesday with almost no people in the grandstand to watch the ending . The talent and the equipment at the 97 500 was worst in the history of the race . I was so pissed at how bad the race was and how poorly it was run i have never gone back .

 Â Ward did win 1 IRL race in 2002 at Texas Motor Speedway by passing a very coked out Al Unser Jr on the final lap .
