Greig Truck & Trailer and the Belleville Bulls present Kids Race For Canadian National Autism Foundation This Saturday At Brighton

By Clayton Johns

BRIGHTON (August 10, 2015) – The 48th season of action at Brighton Speedway continues on Saturday, August 15 when Greig Truck & Trailer and the Belleville Bulls present the Kids Race for the Canadian National Autism Foundation. The race will also mark the final event of the inaugural Hotch’s Auto Parts RUSH Pro Late Model Triple Crown.

Pro Late Models Back In Action

The Vanderlaan Building Products RUSH Pro Late Models return after a well-deserved week off. Five drivers elected to race in last Saturday’s Dash for Cash with Kyle Sopaz walking away the victor. Points racing resumes this week with Charlie Sandercock on top of the pile. He holds a 120-point advantage over Corey Earl, who is hungry for his second win of the season after winning back on May 2. Phil Potts, Sopaz and Steve Baldwin are the current top-five in the championship standings.

Gregory Building Modified Momentum

Shawn Gregory continued to build momentum last Saturday when he earned his first Canadian Modified win of the season. The win was Gregory’s fourth top-five of the season and third in the last four weeks. He earned the win in impressive fashion, holding off current point leader Dan Ferguson over the final eight laps. Ferguson now holds a 155-point advantage over Andrew Hennessy following a streak of six top-two finishes, including three wins. Doug O’Blenis, Curtis King and Gregory complete the top-five in the current standings.

Pro Stock Battle Heats Up

Justin Ramsay’s point lead shrunk slightly last week when Doug Anderson was awarded the win in the Brighton Automotive Pro Stock feature. Ramsay’s lead now sits at 230 points over Anderson. Wade Purchase continued his consistent streak with his 10th top-five finish in 12 starts this season. He sits 60 points ahead of Jamie Marshall for third in the standings while Leslie Mowat sits fifth after recovering from motor issues on August 1.

Tight Battle For Comp 4 Crown

Shelby Mills’ point lead atop the Bill’s Johns Comp 4 division is becoming increasingly thin as Austin Reid begins to chip away at the top position. Reid finished third last Saturday, one spot ahead of Mills in the 15-lap feature to gain 10 points in the championship standings. Her lead is now 55 points in the middle of August. Tyler French took a hit last week when the power plant on his No.0 machine went up in smoke, but is still within striking distance at 85 points out of the lead. Emily Weedman and Adam Chapman continue to hold spots in the top-five.  Josh Read through a wrench in to the championship battle with his first win last week. Read is 12th in points after joining the field midway through the year.

Stingers Go Back-To-Back

The Quinte Septic Stingers will be back in action for the second week in a row this Saturday. Del MacGregor claimed his third win of the season in the Super Stinger division while Dawson Evans became the first member of his family to win a feature event in the Junior Stinger class last Saturday. A full field of 26 cars between the two divisions make it one of the most competitive at the track on any given night.
