Tom has obviously had other things on his mind in the last while . But let me asure you he's far from washed up . Every driver has their ups and downs . I don't know of anyone that has a great day everyday.  Tom has very quick reflexes , has always remained competitive and has been known to help many close competitors in his division and others ,now and throughout the past . Face it folks , he makes it interesting out there on the track and pretty fun to watch . I couldn't begin to count the number of races I've watched where I can't even sit on the edge of my seat and stand up to watch . Tom never liked coming in second place for himself , his sponsors or his fans . He places great effort in perfecting his car for one thing , TO WIN ! :)   As for the Nascar Series , I spoke to him personally and he has no desire to run the series . Keep in mind that Tom has raced against most of the series drivers throughout the years . I can tell you right now , he'd be sitting up front of the pack very quickly . The seats at Sunset are filling again for a reason people .  Come check it out for yourself . I know I've put 27 years of Saturdays and other days for special events aside to watch the #47 . I plan on attending each year till Tom one day retires , which I hope will NOT be anytime soon  . Tom has some of the best fans around !
And the most fans too !!!!!

Well marcisfan I guess you haven't been around Mr Walters the last couple of years.  He has mellowed out and is very personable. He devotes his time to setup and racing the #47 with his positive driving and outlook on life.

Ok love or Hate him If he is so good like everyone says how come he is not in The CanadianTire Series of Nascar!!!...Gaunt,, Bourque,,Micks,, Fritzpatrick,,Kennington and so on LOL ,,Still Tired of the HYPE on Walters,But it Doesent Take Much to Push anyones Buttons On this Thread,,SORRY.....

I think one of the biggest things that keeps Tom out of a series like that is that fact that at the track, the man has the personality of a snake.  No sponsor would want themselves associated with him based upon the way he conducts himself at times (see the snapon sponsorship in the late 90's).  I am not taking away from his championships.  I am not a fan of his at all, but I can acknowledge that he is one heck of a race car dirver, he just doesn't have a great way of conducting himself at times.

I can tell you this, If you want to see drivers that are guilty of poorly conducting themselves, read some threads on this site!! I've known Tom for a while and he conducts himself way better than alot of guys with the big sponsors!!

scooter just because one is not where U think they should be does not reflect on his ability.a lot of times it is about the sizzle not the steak. if one was to follow your logic the fact that kimmel, lajoe, skinner, hornaday etc are not in cup they must be poor drivers. i do not know Mr Walters but if half of what i read is true the man can drive. did he steal candy from u or something. quit beating a dead horse.

mipro ~ well said!!  You're like a ray of sunshine!  Like you said, everyone has an opinion about Tom Walters..that in itself is proof positive that he is one of the most popular drivers around.  I am also glad to see him back at Sunset, and I'm certain that his presence is missed at BSW.  I hope that he receives fair treatment at Sunset, and chooses to remain for many years to come!  I'm looking forward to the points battle next year!

Well  Im about to fall over.I cant beleive someone has common sense to finally relize what so many true race fans have already known.Tom is one heck of a race car driver no matter what he drives or what track he drives at or what series series it is. You could tell how popular he is by the crowd gathered around his car sat. night at fan appreciation and by all the positive comments they all were making.A lot of people may not like him much but all i can say as a race fan is he sure makes the show.

It's funny that this thread has ended up talking about a shootout from local tracks, because I seem to remember something like that happening a few years back. It was called the Alstar Super Series. (that was how the series started anyway), and guess who was the most succesful Alstar Super Series driver of all time, racing and beating all of Ontario's stock car heavyweights, to clock an unpresidented THREE super series titles?? you got it. STOMPIN' TOM WALTERS. People can say what they want about Walters, but in the last TWO years he has brought home FOUR titles, and is well on his way to another this year. I don't know of any stock car racer in Ontario, or possibly in Canada, who can say that. Maybe he has earned the Title Mr.Saturday Night.

I'm sorry but I have to agree with mini 19 & hill3, it has become a little much. I hope you guys don't stop posting as you had some great things to say in some of the threads, but lately I have been just skipping your posts.
