JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Ready for First Ever Race at Kil-Kare Raceway

Salem, IN. (July 6, 2017) – The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance will return to action this Sunday at Kil-Kare Raceway located in Xenia, Ohio. This will be the first ever event for the series at that tricky oval, which was reopened this season by Gem City Auto Racing, after being closed for the 2015 and 2016 seasons. The ARCA/CRA Super Series had an event there in 2013 when two time series Champion Travis Braden got the win and again in 2014 when Brandon Oakley picked up his first ever CRA win, both Braden and Oakley are entered to be the first JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour winner at Kil-Kare.

 

Sunday’s Gem City 100 will be the fourth race of the season for the crate late model series sanctioned by Champion Racing Association. Cole Williams won the series season opener on May 21st at Bristol Motor Speedway, then picked up the win in Monday’s “Masters of the Pro’s” 144 at Lebanon I-44 Speedway. Veteran Jack Smith won the series second event of the season on June 17th at Salem Speedway. With their wins, Williams and Smith are the first drivers to be locked into the new Chase Championship format if they compete in at least 75% of the races leading up to the final four Chase events. Smith is entered for Sunday’s event.

 

With his series best second place finishes at the “Masters of the Pro’s” 144 and at Salem Speedway, Jack Dossey III comes into Monday’s event as the series point’s leader. The 2016 VanDoorn Racing Development Rookie of the Year holds a 14 point lead over second place Austin Kunert, who has started the season with three top five finishes. Both Dossey and Kunert are entered for Sunday’s event.

 

Howie Lettow Rookie of the Year Award Presented by VanDoorn Racing Development point’s leader Carson Hocevar is third in series Championship points, he is 17 points behind Kunert. Michael Clancy Jr. is fourth in series points, he is 17 points behind Hocevar. Both Hocevar and Clancy Jr. are entered for Sunday’s event.

 

Other top CRA drivers entered for the Gem City 100 include Thomas Woodin, Trever McCoy, Jordan Miller, James Krueger and VanDoorn Racing Development rookies Hope Hornish and Thomas Hufferd, who finished 10th in his series debut Monday. Anthony Danta is entered to compete in the Lisa Trgovich owned #11, which was competed with the series for several seasons. Former series regular Kody Evans is entered in a Brandon Oakley Racing team car.

 

Several local competitors who compete in the Gem City Auto Racing Late Models and part-time with CRA are also entered including David Carter, who finished second to Braden in the 2013 ARCA/CRA Super Series event at Kil-Kare, multi-time Columbus Motor Speedway Champion Donnie “Zero” Hill, former Columbus Motor Speedway Champions Kyle Jones, Kyle Purvis and Chad Pendleton, former Kil-Kare Raceway Champion Justin Alsip, Cincinnati veteran racer Jeep Pflum, and Columbus Motor Speedway veteran racer Jim Hursey. New Bremen former Outlaw Late model racer Drew Charlson is also entered.

 

There is an open practice scheduled on Saturday, pit gates open at 4pm, practice will run from 5pm until 8pm. Pit gates open on Sunday at 9am with a one hour practice session for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour starting at 11:30am. Fury Race Cars qualifying for the Gem City 100 will start at 1:30pm. The race program will begin at 2:15 pm, also racing that night will be the Kil-Kare Raceway Modifieds, Street Stock and Compact divisions.
