Ontario Modifieds Racing Series Books a Road Trip to Flamboro Speedway

Its been about 3 weeks since the drivers and teams with the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series – powered by Torque Builders Inc. – last ran an event, but that is all about to change. The popular open wheeled tour will run the first of a pair of events this month Saturday, July 2nd at Flamboro Speedway, near Hamilton.

While there has been just one feature event winner in the 3 scheduled events to hit the track so far, series organizers are pleased with the way things have gone. Bill Pickford – who along with Rick Warnes and Randy Hollingsworth make up the team of OMRS officials – says its been a very exciting season.

“Everyone has stepped-up their program this year and our teams have put together some solid finishing efforts on raceday,” said Pickford. “We’ve had about a dozen teams run every event so far and there is a gap of just over 80 markers from 1st to 12th place in the point standings. The recent test session held at Peterborough Speedway introduced a number of new drivers to our brand of competition and I know of at least one team that hopes to be on the track before the end of the year.”

Pickford pointed out that the solid finishes turned-in lately by drivers like Ryan Dick, Duane Cinnamon and Stu Robinson Jr. – who currently sits second in the point standings – as runners who could potentially be the next to find their way to the winner’s circle; although based on last year’s stats, consistency can mean more than race wins. In 2015, Donny Beatty captured the series championship without a feature win. In fact, none of the top 7 point finishers made it to victory lane.
