Greg Biffle way to go
« on: September 15, 2008, 09:41:51 AM »
I really enjoyed this past Sunday's race. I even didn't mind the Lillydale commercials, As the Biff won and it was great to see this as he comes so close and something always seems to go wrong.

He is the guy when you see him near the front in the lead you start cheering for him and forget about your other favorite drivers.

Good way to start of the chase.

That was a pretty good race throughout the entire one. First race of the chase has me smiling :)

First bits of a Cup race I've watched in a while and I liked the finish too.

Jimmy gave him a pretty competitive rub on the way by and Biffle just drove on. He certainly capitalized on his chance at the win. He was only quicker for the first few green laps in that run.

Burton also looked good and racy getting by that Dew car. Gotta love those fast old guys....well you do if you are old :)

Wonder how they will keep Busch from trying to lap the field next week at Dover?

I agree, it was nice to see Greg win the race as well.

Speaking of commercials, I watched the race over TSN, I thought the Canadian Tire commercial was good, highlighting some of our NCATS drivers along with the Cup drivers. Our series sponsors and promoters should do this more often. Perhaps some our fellow Canadians who watched this but never attend a local short track race, will start to wonder, "who are these guys?", "am I missing out on something?". In my mine it's a win/win situation! Great commercial!

I didn't get to see all of the race but what I saw was good. You do bad in one race and you go from 1st to 7th. i though no one would catch Kyle. Boy was I wrong.

I wonder who is going to I though Gordon didn't have a chance at the Cup but seeing what can happen it is anyones for the taking.

I think this chase is going to be the best one yet.

Kyle will come back with a vengeance! Tony looked very good apart from his pit road blunder....Junior has to get it together..having ur owner come on and have to babysit u is not a good thing!

Having your owner come on and babysit you? That wasn't anything like that. Those words were just words of encouragement before the race started, something Rick does for all 4 of his drivers.

I just did, and I see your point of view. Thank you for your proof of bases on comment! :)

But here's something - there's definately good points as to why they do it. Simply 1) the cousins and the fact that they're like two cats at times, and 2) the trust boundary that's always been there between Rick & Jr. When he was at DEI and Steve Hmiel spotting, it was Steve that did the calming effect that Rick does. It's just something that Jr. has with his personality and hey, let it be! As long as they're running good with their cars (which 3 out of 4 are in the chase, and Gordon says they're gettin' closer to runnin' good), then I say leave it be. If that's how they wanna do things, then let 'em. If Tony Jr. & Dale Jr. wanna bicker on the radio like brothers at points, let 'em. It's their life to lead! :)

Junior is not someone who likes to divulge info about the car, that is what Rick is trying to get outta him...his cars perform as well as they do at the end as they do at the start instead of getting better...then Rick comes on and here Junior blowing a gasket instead of growing up and dealing with it...

give me a fire breather in a race car any day. its easier to slow a driver down than speed one up.

Junior is not someone who likes to divulge info about the car, that is what Rick is trying to get outta him
right, not going to lie about that. As for Rick trying to pull him to give Tony Jr more info, that's a good move. Once Rick pulls him emough to tell enough, then it'll be all settled and done. It's called owner helping driver, just like crew cheif and fellow team members help driver, to become better at what they're trying to accomplish. And so maybe not everybody will see it the right way and complain against it, but hey, like I said, it's their life to lead. Those are the choices that they're making. Rick is making the choice to help Jr. that way, as Jr. is making the choice to stick with his cousin.
