FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

OHSWEKEN SPEEDWAY PR: GALE'S AUTO AFTERMARKET PRESENTS BROCK LEONARD MEMORIAL NIGHT THIS FRIDAY, JULY 18

Ohsweken, Ontario - July 15, 2014 - Ohsweken Speedway's 19th season of racing continues this Friday, July 18, when Gale’s Auto Aftermarket presents Brock Leonard Memorial Night featuring the "Brock Leonard Memorial 50" for Affordable Towing & Recovery Thunder Stocks, plus Corr/Pak Merchandising 360 Sprint Cars, Strickland's GMC Crate Sprint Cars, HRW Automotive Mini Stocks, and Gale's Auto Aftermarket Bombers.

AFFORDABLE TOWING & RECOVERY THUNDER STOCKS BROCK LEONARD MEMORIAL 50
Ohsweken's Thunder Stock teams will contest the longest feature race of their season this week in the running of the Brock Leonard Memorial 50. The race honours Brock Leonard, a long-time speedway official and friend to many in the Ontario racing community, who passed away in 2012. The third annual Brock Leonard Memorial 50 will feature a slightly different format, with group time trials added to the qualification process, which will also include heat races, and a B-Main.

Brad Herron won the inaugural "Brock Leonard Memorial 50″ in 2012, while Ryan Turner was the winner of last year's event. Herron is now racing in the Strickland's GMC Crate Sprint Car division, while Turner has joined the DIRTcar Sportsman Modified ranks, leaving a host of competitors looking to add their names to the special trophy, and earn the $1,000 winner's prize.

Wyatt Van Wart won his 4th feature race of the season last Friday, and leads the Thunder Stock championship standings heading into the Brock Leonard Memorial 50. Dave Silverthorn, Jr. is second in the standings, followed by 2013 champ Lee Winger, Jim Lampman, Chris Dickie, Bill Bleich, Jr., Dave Bailey, Karl Sault, Rookie of the Year standings leader Chase Hess, and Steve Hess.

CORR/PAK MERCHANDISING 360 SPRINT CARS
Dain Naida won last Friday's 360 Sprint Car feature in his first visit to Ohsweken this season, but Glenn Styres continues to lead the championship standings. Styres has three feature wins at Ohsweken already this season, and has finished in the top 10 in all 8 races contested so far. 2011 and 2013 champ Jim Huppunen took a third place finish last Friday and moved to second in the standings in the process, followed by Kyle Patrick, Mitch Brown, 2012 champ Chris Steele, Shane Ross, Todd Hoddick, 2010 champ Dave Dykstra, 2008 champ Keith Dempster, and Jamie Turner.

STRICKLAND'S GMC CRATE SPRINT CARS
Ryan Hunsinger won his third Crate Sprint Car feature of the season last Friday, and continues to lead the championship standings. Aaron Turkey sits second in the standings, followed by Jake Brown, Mike Thorne, and Josh Shantz. The new division has featured 11 full time drivers, and saw 600cc Micro Sprint driver Dylan Westbrook make his Crate Sprint Car debut last Friday. Another new car is expected this Friday, as 2013 Mini Stock champ Davey Boughton is slated to be in attendance with his Crate Sprint Car.

HRW AUTOMOTIVE MINI STOCKS
Tyler Lafantaisie continued his dominance of the Mini Stock division last Friday by winning his fourth Ohsweken feature of the season. Lafantaisie also has three runner-up finishes and a 4th place finish this season, and leads the championship standings over Rookie of the Year standings leader Mark Bazuin, Team 66 (Brandon and Jon Janssens), Team 81 (Alex Schuts and Lee Hils), Team 79 (Steve and Dan Miller), Lucas Lubin, Robin Elliott, Team 55 (Rob and Kevin Slater), Jonathan Ayrton, and Tim DeBoer.

GALE'S AUTO AFTERMARKET BOMBERS
Spencer General-Thomas won his first ever Bomber feature last Friday, but is not in the top 10 in the championship standings, as he didn't compete until mid-June. 2013 champ Dusty DeBoer has won a feature this season, but his lead in the standings is built on consistency, as he hasn't finished worse than 4th in any of his 8 races. Joe DeBoer is second, followed by Max Chechalk, Ashton Reekie, Gillian Hils, Paul Longboat, Clinton Nicholls, Gerald Burnham, Tim Nuell, and Dakota Potts.
