MACK DEMAN TAKES 2ND WIN OF THE LUCAS OIL CAN-AM MIDGET SEASON

Mack DeMan found Victory Lane for the second time this season as the Lucas Oil Can-Am Midgets completed race #4 in the series at Flamboro Speedway Saturday night. Taking the checkered flag after a hard fought battle with teammate Adrian Stahle, DeMan was joined by car owner Andy Mackereth to start the celebration. Mackereth said "It was worth missing some 'cottage time' to see them run so well tonight. I thought I might be fixing 2 cars this week, but they ran tight, but clean right to the one, two finish".

DeMan said "It was fun racing against Adrian tonight. There are some really fast cars out here this year. It's going to be an exciting season. I would like to especially thank Lucas Oil for all their support, Crown Steering and Brake, and DeMan Constructiion."

Tyler Turnbull took the lead as the green flag was dropped followed by David Balych and Ryan Fraser. Adam Racine was fourth and Stahle rounded the top five. At the beginning of lap three the caution came out as Rookie Al Smith and Dave Hickson made contact in turn two and both spun. As the front of the field tried to slow for the caution Rob DiVenanzo and Todd Cresswell made contact in turn four. Smith and Hickson went to the back for the restart. Turnbull continued to lead for two more laps with pressure from Racine for the lead. Racine got the point on lap five with Stahle moving into the 2nd place as Turnbull dropped to third. Balych was now 4th and DeMan joined the top five runners.

One lap later Stahle made a quick move around Racine and took the lead. Racine kept on his tail as DeMan made the pass on Turnbull and was now in third. Stahle was in a league of his own and started to open up a sizable lead over Racine. But you can never count out teammate DeMan, now on the move. Quickly catching up to Racine, DeMan took no time to pass him and move into the second spot and set sites on Stahle. With his big lead starting to shrink, Stahle knew DeMan was coming quick. Three laps later the caution came out as Cresswell broke and brushed the wall down the front straight. Cresswell was out for the night. This restart set up the battle between Stahle and DeMan for the remainder of the race. Racine was still third followed by Turnbull and Darren McLennan was now in fifth place. Balych dropped to sixth and had a tight battle with Rob Neely and Fraser for position.

With exciting racing throughout the field, all eyes were on the front as Stahle and DeMan put on the show. Lap after lap they ran side by side, neither wanting to give an inch or make contact. This went on for 5 laps with both cars looking for that win. Finally with five laps to go DeMan found that 'inch' and made a dive under Stahle coming out of the turn and grabbed the lead. Not giving up, Stahle hung on close behind. Racine fought with Turnbull for third and you could have thrown a blanket over McLennan, Balych, Neely and Fraser. With two laps to go the drivers turned into the 'it's now or never' time and positions were changing quickly.

DeMan still had the edge over Stahle and put a car length between them. Turnbull began to fade giving room for McLennan, Neely and Balych to advance. On the final lap DeMan kept the point, followed by Stahle and Racine. Neely passed Balych and then a quick move around McLennan for fourth place. The checkered flag was thrown for DeMan's win, his teammate Stahle second, followed by Racine, Neely, and McLennan.

Heats were won by McLennan and DeMan. The 'B' Feature was won by DiVenanzo.  Of note...Adam Walsh flew in from Vancouver to race TQ#49 and finished 13th and Tyler Mackereth flew in from Florida to drive TQ#4 for Peter DeMan but experienced mechanical problems and finished back in the field.

The Lucas Oil Can-Am Midgets head north to Sunset Speedway for their next race on Saturday, July 12th. The Grand Bend race scheduled for July 5th has been cancelled.
