MacDonald Races to Fourth Maritime League of Legends Tour Win

(RIVER GLADE, NB – August 27th, 2018) Craig MacDonald (Waverley, NS) drove to a convincing win on Saturday evening at Petty International Raceway in Maritime League of Legends Tour competition. For MacDonald, the win was his fourth of the season and first at the high banked bullring in the second and final appearance for the Series there in 2018.

MacDonald had built a huge lead on Fleet Brake Atlantic Rookie Austin MacDonald (Pictou, NS) and was well on his way to victory before a caution coming to the white flag set up a final green-white-checkered finish. Craig lined up beside Austin on the restart and while Craig was able to skirt away for the win, Austin was left to duel it out with home track favorite Michael Cormier (Grand-Barachois, NB) for second place with Cormier edging out the No. 27.

Emily Meehan (Rawdon Gold Mines, NS) charged hard on the two lap shootout but came up one spot short of a podium with a fourth place finish. Point leader Shelby Baker (Fall River, NS) was able to notch another top five finish on the 2018 season with a fifth place run in Round Eight.

Due to the green-white-checkered finish, the 50-lap feature for the Maritime League of Legends Tour ran one lap past its scheduled distance. Round Eight featured two caution flag periods and took just 19 minutes to complete.

Craig MacDonald won the qualifying heat race to set the grid for the feature. Cormier was the Fleet Brake Atlantic Rookie of the Race.
