Oktoberfest Classic Features Cancelled

Dear Race Fans, Competitors and Sponsors

It is with heavy heart that I must inform you that we will be unable to run the Oktoberfest second day events this year.  Due to the enormous amount of rain in the past month, the pits and parking lot are in a flooded condition, and it is impossible to stage the event.  Several of the Series are unable to return  past this weekend, so it is not possible to reschedule to a later date.  Any person that has a two day ticket for this event may use the ticket for entrance at the beginning of the 2007 season.  I am very sorry for any inconvenience.  I hope to see you all in 2007.  Lets hope it will be a much drier season.

Why can the ticket only be used at the beginning of next season?

This is just another in the long line of decisions made over the years at Flamboro that has turned away so many fans and competitors.

Agreed, just another fine example of poor decision making at Flamboro. I guess the weather last week wasn't good enough for them ? Couldn't have had a better fall day than last Saturday. I think it is because many cars had decided not to attend that it was cancelled. BTW, Casselle has all of our 2-day ticket money now but is he going to pay out any purse money ? And now my $45 ticket can get me into a regular show at the start of next season ? BS. I didn't pay that price for low car counts, few out of towners and no SLM and an admission to next years openner. Another fine example of why I don't travel to Flamboro very often. Sure, weather was a problem but that's no excuse. Like I said last Saturday was a great day for racing, why was it called off ?????????? :x

Last Saturday was wet in teh Waterdown/Flamborough ares, but Sunday wasn't. Methinks John got his wish and will make a few extra buck without runing the features. He better be paying out to all teams that qualified.

How about the Limited Late Model drivers - they are not even a regular class at Flamboro - when will they get to use their pit passes?

I just called and left a message at the track asking if the cars that attended qualifying, were ready to race and loaded up last weekend, and again this weekend, would be given some sort of purse split between the field, or paid by qualifying or however.

We have all paid to get it in, I don't see why they shouldn't do this.

I know I can't use my ticket at the beginning of 2007 at a track that doesn't run my division. If we don't get paid, then i'd like to use my ticket for entrance into next year's Octoberfest Weekend. I remember this happening at Peterborough Speedway one year at the Classic (think it was 1999), we got qualifying in and the mains were rained out, J.P paid the field based on their qualifying position.

I guess i'll wait for a response from either John or Frank.

confirming what Brett posted-it rained in the Flamboro area off and on last Saturday. It also rained down here yesterday off and on from 4:30 pm on with just a tease of sun around noon. Last Sunday was Sunny but the winds would have made it feel like 6 degrees which was sure to scare any spectators away. I openly wonder sometimes with the size of the crowds at Flammy for many of their shows (small) that the back gate is paying everything and any spectators that show are just gravy. Many tracks seem to be operating that way, bringing in more and more divisons, lengthening their programs, scaring off spectators & making it club racing.
Perhaps in future, the gentleman's agreement with Peterboro, not to run the same time as them may be broken.  Quite a few of the Flammy LMs didn't run Peterboro so possibly Flamboro's show could feature LMs, Vintage Mods, Local Thunders & TQ midgets. Let the Limited Lates & Oscaar be the big draw at Peterboro. But both promoters seem to depend on those big back gates to make or break their season.

They did run this event in Nov.of  2003.

The grounds are a big mess right now. A real swamp in the pits. John had a good weekend last weekend and he blew it. I think that he should have explained it with a few more details. As I understand it the racers don't even have their banquet date yet. Or if they do that haven't been able to buy tickets yet.
