Weather no Threat…

With dark clouds looming and the threat of rain in the air, Brighton Speedway staff and management were pleased to get the whole Free Flow Petroleum program in on July 18, 2009.  “We knew Mother Nature was threatening, and we wanted to give the fans the gift of a complete race as part of our Christmas in July celebrations. The drivers did not let us down.  They drove clean, the pace was fast and the competition was evident as all four of our regular classes completed their races with very few cautions and a gift to themselves, little damage to their vehicles, “ said Pit Director Brenda Whitehead who was standing in the dry area under shelter less than half an hour after the final checker flew.

Enjoying the checkered flag “gifts” they earned were Doug Anderson, #72, of Trenton in the Brighton Automotive Pro Stocks, Kyle Sopaz, #12, of Carrying Place in the Bill’s Johns Comp 4, Warren Mowat, #46, of Trenton in the Picture This Pure Stocks, and Charlie Sandercock, #57, of Trenton in the Bainer’s Radiator Canadian Modifieds.  Earning the title of Campbellford Chrysler’s Driver of the Week was the #4 Pro Stock of Mike McCrory from Brighton, who finished 3rd in the feature and 1st in his qualifier and has consistently been working his way up in points with consistent driving and care of his ride.

The next race event is the July 25th Deerhaven Farm & Garden Presentation of the Wall of Fame Inductions, when Brighton Speedway honours racers and builders who have impacted grassroots motorsport racing in Northumberland County.  On the track will be the FAB FOUR  of Bainer’s Radiator Canadian Modifieds, Brighton Automotive Pro Stocks, Bill's Johns Comp 4 & Picture This Pure Stocks.  Also included in the night are the Gord’s Water Vantastics and the popular Spectator One on One Racing.  Green flag flies at 7pm.
