Tricks and Treats for Everyone....

The Brighton Automotive Halloween Edition of Fan Appreciation included many treats for the grassroots, motorsport racing fans at Brighton Speedway, but the tricks came during the Behan Construction presentation of the $5.00 Price Slasher Saturday main event on Saturday, August 15, 2009,

The popular driver meet and greet format of the Brighton Automotive Fan Appreciation, Halloween Edition,  was a definite drawing card for fans  who spent time on the track, gathering candy, photos, giveaways and of course signatures,  from their favourite drivers during intermission.  “ We love coming to the track on Fan Appreciation nights,” said  young fans Allyn and Graeme Whitehead of Cobourg. “It’s not just the bag of treats we get to take home, but shaking hands with and saying hello to our favourite drivers,  especially Caley Weese and Charlie Sandercock, makes this night a real treat for us!”

The trick came out of the hat of Track Promoter Mark Rinaldi, who added two events on the night for the Bainer’s Radiator Canadian Modifieds, a favourite class for many fans. Scheduled to have a night off from points racing, Rinaldi did not want to disappoint the sizeable crowd so he switched the schedule up to include one on one racing and the always popular Dash for Cash, sponsored by Larry’s Towing.

The winner of the one on on racing was the #57 Charlie Sandercock, of Trenton. The surprise of the night was Beau Brown, #75 of Brighton, who started the 10 lap Dash for Cash in 4th position, drove his car with strength in the corners to get him into first at the halfway point, and he never looked back.  Beau came out of the Dash with some cash in his pocket and a checker flag he will celebrate with others as the Campbellford Chrysler Driver of the Week.

Other celebrated wins, taken with some tricky driving to stay out of trouble, went to Corey Earl of Picton, in his #11 Brighton Automotive ProStock, Nathan Bosma #09  of Belleville  in his #09 Picture This Pure Stock, Kyle Sopaz of Brighton in his #12 Bill’s Johns Comp 4, Mike Freeman of Brighton in his #51 Quinte Towing Stinger and #577 Jonathan Janc of Moose Creek, on his Flat Track 4 Wheeler.

The next race event is the August 22nd, Betty Bread presentation of the Belleville Pro Bowl 10 Pin Enduro Car Bowling, and also includes the FAB FOUR, Quinte Towing Stingers and the Canadian Modified Mechanics Race.  Green Flag flies at 7pm .
