ROOKIE RACINE SWEEPS LUCAS OIL CAN-AM MIDGET WEEKEND

Rookie Adam Racine claimed all the checkered flags for the Lucas Oil Can-Am Midget doubleheader weekend at Sauble Speedway. Taking his first ever feature win on Saturday night, Racine said, "I can't believe it. This is the most competitive series I ever raced in and I beat 'The Boss'!  Thanks to the Neely's for providing this great car for me to drive, my family, and a big thanks to Lucas Oil for all their help". The race ran green to checkered in 6 minutes and Racine lead all 25 laps. On Sunday afternoon the Lucas Oil Can-Am Midgets returned to the track for the second race of the weekend and Racine again went to Victory Circle after leading all but the first 2 laps. Racine also won both of his heat races. He now leads the 'Rookie of the Year' points chase.

The very tight points battle heated up on this doubleheader weekend as well. Coming into Saturdays race Adrian Stahle was in the lead with 1821 points, Mack DeMan had 1820 points and Rob Neely had 1817. After the race Neely now had the lead with 1987 points, DeMan had 1974 and Stahle had 1965. Sunday afternoon the racers stepped up their game and one of the best races of the season had Neely and DeMan swap the lead 3 times in their side by side battle in the heat race, finally won by Neely. After the features were done, Neely now leads the Championship Points battle with 2144 points with DeMan in second with 2141 points. Stahle is still in the chase with 2123 points. The final race for the 2013 Lucas Oil Champion will be decided on Saturday, September 21st at Flamboro Speedway.

Starter Kyle MacKensie threw the green flag to start Sunday afternoon's race as pole sitter Tommy Kyle and Tyler Turnbull lead the field in to turn one. Darren McLennan took over the lead coming out of turn two. Kyle hung on to second place as Racine moved from his 5th place starting spot to third. Turnbull went to fourth. Racine then passed Kyle for the second spot and sized up McLennan to take over command on lap 3. Stahle took over third place from Kyle as DeMan was now in fourth from his 10th place start. Neely rounded out the top five. DeMan was on the move, passing Stahle on lap 5 and setting sites on McLennan. With ten laps in Racine held a sizable lead as McLennan had a fight for position with DeMan. Just past the halfway point the first and only caution came out for Kyle and Todd Cresswell spinning in turn two. Both went to the back for the restart.

Racine continued to lead at the restart with DeMan now in second as Stahle and McLennan now fought for third. Two laps later Neely grabbed fourth from McLennan and headed towards Stahle for third. McLennan now battled with rookie Turnbull for fifth place. Turnbull got the spot with five to go. Racine was in a race of his own as the remaining laps ticked off. DeMan gave it all he could and closed up the gap but time ran out before he could catch and pass Racine. Racine took the win followed by DeMan, Stahle, Neely and Turnbull. Accepting the checkered flag the excited Racine said "This is a blast. I can't put into words what this weekend means to me. Thanks to Rob (Neely) for all the hard work he puts into this car."
